A/C re-gas or possible leak - Kwik-Fit any good?
Discussion
Dealer has said that the A/C on the EP3 isn't working. As i'm off to Croatia late next month this will need fixing, else I'll boil.
Is the Kwik-Fit system any good at finding any leaks or do they just re-gas and let it drain out over the next few days/weeks?
Any other places that come reccomeded for this in the SE London/NW Kent area?

Last time I went in they pressure checked it first, if there were leaks and they couldn't safely re-gas it then no charge.
They didn't however seem intrested at all in looking into why it was leaking.
Hopefully it will all come good, I have noticed from the history that it had a re-gas not too long ago so think there is a leak somewhere, may try to find a local specialist. They didn't however seem intrested at all in looking into why it was leaking.
My experience of a Kwik Fit regas was that they pressure tested the system which was all clear so regassed.
Aircon worked for the rest of the day but was warm next day, so I took it back as they claimed money back if it didn't work but the guy behind the counter wasn't interested as the pressure test had been successful so my system must be fine.
Right...

I had mine recently done by George at www.gocool.co.uk (Bristol). He was saying Kwikfit have refilled cars when there are gaping holes in the pipework, terrible workmanship and illegal.
That doesn't sound too good, with all these reports I may steer away and Bristol is a little far from me in Kent. Been looking on google for my locality and a place near me called 'Mark Transport Co/The MOT Centre' in Green St Green and the guy seemed decent over the phone.
Any experiences?

I had a possible leak on mine - it was re-gassed last year but no cold air.
Found a local mobile guy and he came out a couple of days later, spent a couple of hours in total - couldn't find a leak so he pressure tested it and we ended up re-gassing it and it's been fine since for £50.
He was a good bloke and I'm happy to recommend him if you're in Kent - he's http://gmaircon.co.uk/
Cheers!

If there is nothing wrong with your system, and it is just not quite as cool as it was when new (the refrigerant does slowly leak out/decay over time), then KF is the best place. It it a fully automated machine and so is probably the one and only thing they can't mess up. The pressue test will not detect a very slow leak.
But it seems you have a leak - so avoid because you really don't want them messing with your car trying to 'fix' it.
