Brilliant! Probably shouldn't broadcast this, but I was in stitches...

Just had a phone call from the better half saying "I pushed the plus button a couple of times thinking it was the volume, and now the car is driving really wierdly, it's not accelerating. What should I do?"

I was initially stumped thinking that could be the volume, or the cruise control.

Ah! that'll be the paddle shift then! I thought it was obvious, but it's amazing what isn't intuitive to the uninitiated. I feel shame for having not explained previously. Then again, I thought it was obvious.

What's your reg no?

Just in case I think of buying it down the line.
Car sympathy and all that.

How long has she been driving in 1st?

edit: Or does it autochange when you hit 8000rpm?

Presumably the car has a manual override when you tap the paddles. Odd that she didn't manage to make it kick down by flooring the accelerator when it wouldn't move quickly though.

Haha. Fortunately, she wasn't turning the radio down.[Not that it would be a permitted shift anyway.]

She was in "D", paddles override "D" for Command Shift.

Someone I know complained that when driving in snow the "snowflake" button didn't seem to make any difference to the cars grip in the wintry conditions. When asked if she noticed the car getting noticeably chillier, the penny still didn't drop that she had in fact been pressing the aircon.
