These models are super cool - I must be getting old though... having raced around in 40mph go-karts as a kid with no safety precautions whatsoever, I look at the little girl in those cars and think "If that were my child I would have fitted a seat belt".
There are seatbelts fitted, for both passenger and driver, shows better on another video. Bike helmet or similar might be a good idea though.

I'm interested in the fate of that dog at the end of the video.
It was quite an abrupt cut at the end wasn't it!
The Dog turned an ran, but apparently it was close, if you look at the comments on the youtube page.

Excellent work, I'll have to look into some modifications this summer!

I've got 2 boys now too so a second build will be underway come the winter, contemplating twin drill power wink

Who was the guy who made a mini racer (largely) out of a wheelie bin? Or was it the Lotus 7 above?

My sister and i had something like this when we were younger. my dad was a boat builder/carpenter and made us one each, my sister had a red car version, and i had a blue truck version. they were both electric powered by a car battery i think, and could fit two kids in the front bench. mine had a bent front bumper from practising those Russ swift moments, a tow-bar and an old Bugatti style grille.

absolutely loved it...

I saw this Ferrari GTO at the auto italia day at Brooklands a couple of weekends ago - it was simply awesome in terms of detail and workmanship, and certainly held its own against all the other full sized exotica there on the day. Expect a call from a certain radio 2 breakfast DJ???

What a lucky girl to have a dad like that :-)

The name Stuart Gurr rings a bell. I think he may have owned some modified Minis (the proper Mini, not the BMW monster) which were the fastest ones around.

I used to go to the Middlesex RS Owners meeting in the late '90s which used to take place near Heathrow along the A4. I remember a turquoise coloured clubman shape (with 4 round headlights instead of the 2) which was just a beast. It had been magazine featured and had around 190 bhp (IIRC) from a Metro Turbo lump at the time and to see this thing giving RS Turbos and Cossies some stick was real good fun. A lot of the cars would have a little 'race' around the block (the police used to be present) and this Mini had a run alongside some real potent machinery. All you could hear was the straight cut gears being changed as it would rev so quickly.

Or I could be confused, as I also remember a black Mini (chrome 7x13 superlites) with what was described as an all steel Metro Turbo engine which also had a silly amount of power for it's displacement.

The good 'ol days :-)

Sorry for going off topic but the name just brought back some fond memories for me.
