Anyone got a lathe for sale
Discussion
Try these guys. We've used them a few times & they're really professional & really nice guys www.percymartin.co.uk
Look up Apex Auction house. Personally for a small lathe I recommend a Myford 7 (Its what a lot of toolmakers have in there own garage). Colchesters and Harrison are pretty good. I've done loads of work on Schaublin lathes, they are lovely but they tend to be more for proper toolroom work.

Hi, thanks for the replies. The full scale industrial boys area bit big / expensive for what I require, but thanks for the suggestions. I've been looking at the myfords. They seem very popular, but a smilar cost to the larger colchesters et al, I suppose it just depends on what's on the auction sites at the time.
Matt, I'm not sure how it's done, but I'd like to have a chat about the lathe you are showing. How is it done to make personal contact??

I think there must be hundreds if not thousands of Colchester Lathes scattered all over this fair island going unused.
I would recommend a Colchester over a Myford 7 or the like for that type of job. Much more substantial in my opinion and has a pretty decent gearbox with various thread feeds.
My one at work is a Master that has ridiculous amounts of back lash but still able to keep within a thou on cuts as long as you keep your wits about you.
