any requirements?
Yep, four doors, ISOFIX (not a showstopper but would be ideal), and ideally within c. 40 miles of Southampton! Keeping an eye on this thread and the 1-5, although I've not put a duplicate post over there
Thanks in advance
5 months MOT and 6 months tax included!
Spend £150 getting an Indy to drop/clean the sump and do an oil/filter change (fully synthetic) and it'll go forever...

Right then chaps, given that my current contract has just come to an end I am looking to free up the pound notes in my daily and replace it with something from this thread or the sub -1k thread.
Bookmarked.
Exactly what I did a couple of months ago. Chopped in the XJR for £11500 and bought a £695 MG ZT+ instead.Bookmarked.
Would rather have that cash sitting in my bank than depreciating on the drive!
No regrets thus far, took the MG up to Telford on the bank hoilday, 2 plus hours of fast driving there and back, didn't miss a beat and very comfortable.

The ZT (or 75) is most certainly 'on the radar' as far as my search goes...Anything reasonably big and comfy and reasonably well screwed together.
One car that was very popular with expats in Texas and can be picked up for pennies here is the Ford Escape (Maverick) V6. I'm kind of sat on the fence as far as 4x4's go, however; I'd always pick an estate first.

Yes, in my case the car is a 2010 335i, mileage slowly creeping up and value coming down!

Ah well I'm covered on the 4x4 front as I've already got a P38 Range Rover, actually the main reason for buying the MG was because no one should be mad enough to rely on a P38 as their only car! I'm off to view that 325i Coupé this afternoon... will report back for any potential buyers.
Will be very interesting to hear back from you - I am trying to talk my flatmate into buying it! I will watch this space
Pros: bloke who owned it was sound and knew exactly what he was talking about. Mechanically very well sorted- LSD works ( ), open diff included too, engine runs like a peach, coolant system overhauled by him, every fluid in the engine has been changed and the diff has fresh oil. Sounds amazing, goes well, drives pretty well. No power steering, it's pretty light without and is also full of feedback.
Cons: bodywork tired (few small carpark dents and one biggie in the offside front wing, would recommend new front wing), bit of rust above the nearside rear arch, interior comes with a few rips, bushes very baggy.
However, I'd say it'd definitely, definitely be worth a punt for £600-£650... if you really wanted to, you could make it very presentable (spray work/new interior/new wing) for not very much, given the price of used E36 parts, and I was very taken with it. If I had the space on the drive, there's no doubt it would've come home with me.

Does that rear plate indicate that it might have been a Japanese car? 280E, 41K, 1995... £500

Might be a decent runner for someone, and if nothing else is certainly worth a cheeky offer of £250 to get some useful bits off it.
Slightly over budget but I haven't seen a Matra Rancho for many years actually driving along

Blast from the past! I remember my dad buying a green one of those when I was a kid, I loved it because it was so much cooler than any cars that my friends had. I suspect leaving that one alone and keeping my rose tints firmly in place is the safest thing for me to do though.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C343525

Update on the Bargain Basement ST220 - 2nd gear now no longer works, you can just hear rotational noises and no drive. Now got to decide whether I should fix it or break it....or just drive without 2nd gear but that will be no fun on track! Was having a lot of fun too! Been to Curborough twice and had a great day out today with a few Ford clubs (150 miles around Wales) which finally killed it. Any mechanics on here want a go at replacing the gearbox? Second hand ones are cheap but I haven't got the space or equipment to do it DIY.

Oh my! Looks a lot nicer from the outside than the inside though Is that a bit of wood in the door where the speaker should be?http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C343525

Is this worth a punt? No photo's or link to a Add as belongs to a friend.
1999 Ginger Volvo V70R , 142k, Massive history file, 10 months mot and tax. last MOT had full service, 2 headlights, 4 new tyres, brake pads all round. I'm borrowing it for a week whilst mine is off the road and can say it drives very well and goes like stink, on the negative side the lacquer has peeled on a couple of spots on the bonnet and a couple of scrapes on the bumper corners. other than that all is very well. £1000

Looks a like a very clean example and only 26k on the clock.
