It is BS.

Would they turn down cash if you refused to pay the admin fee I wonder?

That S40 seems cheap.

Just had another look - it's a bit of a mess, but salvageable.

The seller is suggesting he will not be interested in receiving the car back or any complaints about it once you've bought it.

£95 on a £5k car probably not.

£95 on a £295 car is just a shyster way to get more cash.

The one that sticks in my mind is Radcliffe Car Auctions

I don't know if they actually hold an Auction but all these are for sale now:

They seem to think that by calling themselves an Auction - they manage to get out of the usual obligations of a car trader.

This looks like it might have potential. Description is very light.
The MOT history doesn't make for very good reading.

I guess there's a reason it's so cheap.
Nothing too scary though unless the underseal is hiding a lot of rot.
Underseal which looks to have only been recently applied, suggesting that it's hiding something...

I wouldn't touch that Ka with yours (or anyone else's for that matter) smile

Mmm. In either case, they would have to pay my £95 admin fee so we'd be quits.

They're selling the vast majority of their stock as scrap or very low value vehicles for £600 or less, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't expect anything more if you're buying from there, and if you buy anything more valuable you're daft. Mind you you'd be daft anyway, because all of their "better" stock is wildly overpriced.

I just stumble across their ads, as I said I stop reading at "Auction" when it isn't.

Them to comply with the law

Is that really too much to ask ?

Which law exactly?

If you buy a £295 car without an MOT, I'm betting no court would support you that the dealer has some obligation to sort it

You cannot make someone sign away their statutory rights. You cannot sell as an "Auction" if it isn't, you cannot sell as a "Trade Sale" to the public.

I never said they would nor should.

You're right about that - the dealer doesn't have the right to remove statutory rights.

I'm not sure this tries to remove them though - I just take it as advice that the dealer is unhelpful

Yes I follow that, but they don't seem to look at ebay; it's mostly Gumtree and AutoTrader.

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222383646551

BMW 325ti.

Would take some haggling to get in thread budget but looks good to me. Always thought the E46 compact was underrated.
