It's a red car from the 90s, they *all* went a bit pink! - a t-cut and wax will sort that.

The MOT history doesn't look too scary - bits about handbrakes and faded indicator bulbs, but that's about all.

I'd say it's overpriced, but not by too much - stick in a bid £300 or so under the asking and see where it goes. That's still a very recoverable 306 Rallye, in my opinion. Make a fantastic track car with a little effort.

Maybe I'll give that one a miss, then. The hunt for a new shed budget fast 306 continues.

I miss my old one, 230k miles but a cracking drive. P463WGT, come home. frown

Struggle to find clean shed price GTi's these days.

Might be looking at letting mine go in the near future.

If it was the right price i'd buy that Rallye just to put right again as they are fairly resilient things.

Oh aye...? What sort of price will yours be going for?

Any thoughts on Mk1 Focus 1.4's?

An absolute clanger has popped up local to me on ebay. 4 days to go and it's only at £250. 2001 model, 155k miles, no mention of service history, but MOT until November with following advisories last year:

Offside Rear Anti-roll bar linkage has slight play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.2)

Offside Front Track rod end ball joint has slight play (2.2.B.1f)

Nearside Rear Tyre worn close to the legal limit 2mm (4.1.E.1)

I guess the 1.4 is gutless. However, as something to chuck on the drive and use infrequently, it could be ok?

They are ok, but as you say gutless, as long as its not rotten it'll be a good car for bimbling around in.

You could do a lot worse.

You'll be changing gear a lot, especially if you're in a hurry, but it's a sweet gear-change so no hardship.

Thanks both.

It's the cheapest local thing by far. There is a 1.6 estate, but it's 25 miles away.

Will see if it gets much higher in price. If not, I'll pop a cheeky bid on it.

I'm not bothered about changing gear. smile

Rather than bid, with wouldn't you just go over there, inspect and try to cut a deal cash in hand?

This. The trick with cheap stuff is to get in quick with cash.

It's a good point. I'll ask the seller. Don't know whether he wants it to run the length of the auction or not. Will find out. smile

Could be a good run around for someone, 23000 miles, very good MOT history, and just 3 owners

Any love for Honda CR-V's?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

Ticks some boxes for me. Had a read about them on Honest John and they don't seem to have anything major wrong with them.

306 GTi-6 Phase 2 with 8 hours to go on eBay. Might just go within budget. Might not.

I'd buy it myself if a recent write-off incident hadn't pushed my insurance sky high (it also means I can't cancel my current policy, I've to pay it off in full to July).

Looks very smart, though.

Nice motor, but that seat fabric is a bit, er, challenging!

My GTi-6 Phase 2 had the same fabric. It is indeed pretty grim. But once you're sitting on it you can't see it. And the seats are at least quite comfy.

I am so, so tempted to say 'bugger it' and stick a bid on that. I loved mine.

Who's for a £950 306 Rallye?

Because there's one for sale.

It has some icky yellow bits in the interior and it's missing a radio. It could also do with a wash. And it's been Cat C/D. However... recent MOT history looks OK. And it has a sweet private plate.

Worth me going for a spin in it...?

The colour, I think, is Diablo Red. Too much of that appears to be Diablo Pink.
Nah Diablo Red wasn't on the Rallye and Diablo red was a metallic

£840!! What a steal.

You're right about the seats being comfy - I remember the ones from the DTurbo being amazingly comfortable and supportive.
