Picked up £160 worth of large, leathery rover barge last week. Stuck it through an mot and failed on a couple bits. So it'll be getting new shocks at the end of the month, some polish to clear up the headlights and s clip on a steering rack gaiter and I'll be running around in quite possibly the polar opposite car to my Nissan hehe

I dread to think what the neighbours think smile
You need a red bumper on the Rover?

I'm looking for a budget barge to travel down the motorway and have a really strong desire for this!

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

The only issue it that its in London, I'm in Devon and hate travelling to find that the car is a true POS! Pictures look ok though

This 407 about 15 miles from where I spend my weekends but is still appealing and is a more economical 2.0 HDI :

For the extra mpg! I can do my own work and AFAIK they have solid flywheels.

Sounds great until you get stuck in stop-start traffic and have to use the horrid manual. Auto all the way. smile

A manual four pot diesel is a truly horrible thing.

I'm about to buy a Rover 75 diesel for about 350-400 pounds. Almost immaculate, 4 new all weather very expensive tyres, great stereo, etc. As it's someone I know I was offered it overnight to see how I liked it. At about 7.30 this evening I went to take it for a drive... BLOODY PUNCTURE! And we only went and left the bloody jack at the workshop. Ffs.

Anyone here believe in bad car omens?

not bad car omens, but i believe the car knows you're done the deal.

Without fail within a month every car i've bought in the last 10 years has picked up a puncture and needed a new tyre.

looks good value and nice and clean. I know if it was me I would stick a set of leathers in there, would be perfect.

Something like these for 70 quid can't go wrong.

What i usually do with my cars, really adds a lot for not a lot. Just make sure airbag connectors are the same and you will have a lot of choice out there. The 75 really does still look a good design.

Woooo Rover 75s!

These really are a bargain at the moment - and have been for some time!

I’m on my 5th one at the moment (well 4th and 5th ‘cause I’ve got two). The diesels are great for longevity but if there seems to be a fair bit of vibration in the cabin this is easily sorted with new engine mounts which are not expensive and cheap to fit, too.

I’ve got a diesel and a V6 both autos at the moment, and absolutely love smoking around in them.

Both cost me less than £500, both have only ever failed MOTs on bulbs. Fantastic cars.

I'd consider a 75 but the lack of isofix would make them an utter chore. Curse my fertility!
