Wouldn't mind an opinion...

How would you guys value a 51 reg Ford Puma 1.7l, winter pack (e.g. a/c, heated front windscreen etc), 12 months MOT, 125k miles, 2 owners, FSH?

ETA: Few small bubbles of rust on rear wheel arches, but tiny compared to a lot of others I have seen!
I wish I'd kept mine but it was rotten as a pear, check underneath very very carefully, the arches aren't a big deal to sort, I reckon if you find a non-rotten one for under a grand you are doing well, these are going to appreciate quite quickly as there aren't many left.

Haha thanks - I’m on the other end, trying to sell!

Had no luck on eBay at £695ono... dropped to £545 but still getting low ball offers

At that age, its largely about how does it go, stops and look. Am afraid lowballing is order of the day, very annoying, but thats the way of the world now for sub £6/700 cars.

Something..
I like the look of this Puma on the bay, lots of people watching it so it must be in the right price bracket.

Hah! I see what you've done there.

Lots of watchers does not equate to lots of interest though, I've found this out in the past.
Does look decent enough though.

Depends on service history and how tyres etc are. Pumas like to rust at the whole rear end, sills, lower front wings and certain points of the front floor.

Found an 05 and 90k st220 that's being sold without an MOT due to having no cats. The sellers have bought other cars so interest in fixing it up has evaporated.

When I went to view there's the usual Mondeo rust above the windscreen and where the rear arches meet the sagging bumper. Lower front grille is in the boot and the upper one has been plasti-dipped black which is now peeling. Country lane scratches all down the passenger side. Couldn't get it started due to a dead battery but interior is clean.

They have it up for a grand but IMHO it's now spares/repairs and £500 max!

Someone *may* have put a link to an ebay listing a few posts above.

I really wish I hadn't opened this thread to look for a replacement for the Puma I've just sold for £350 with half the miles of the one linked to above!

The bodywork on mine was horrific though, not so much the rust which of course it had but every other panel was dented/scratched too. I'm linking to it because it's sold mods, not because I want to sell it:

I actually had trouble shifting it, lots of low offers, one for £100(!), but a nice couple took it away today to be her toddling to work and the shops car. Which it'll do a treat.

Now to look for more autos...

Visible bodyworkwise my Puma looked immaculate. Underneath the pressed steel sill panels looked like filo pastry and it needed alot of welding to get through the mot.

I sold it as spares or repair

Mine the one I just sold actually has more than 12 months' MOT. I was quite surprised that it got through with one advisory.

Well unfortunately, someone has decided to 'key' my car all the way down both sides... So I think that's going to have a horrible effect on trying to sell it.

I have absolutely no idea why somebody would do this... Parked on my road (not outside someone's house), where it's usually parked... Will be going round neighbours tonight to see if anyone saw anything.

ARGH!!

the only thing i can see is it is parked on the pavement and some people will scratch it because of that, and makes it a easy target, very sad but that is how some people think.

That sucks!

Fingers crossed someone will find it for a winter hack / low level track toy, thus not worry about scratches.

I have had it done to my car and it is a a disheartening thing to see, and is not the easiest to repair on the cheap.

Recently had my old W211 Merc keyed, cost to get it properly fixed £1k+ (rather than a "chips away" blow over), currently just living with it as seems bonkers to pay that when the car isn't worth much more, and the idiots could key it again the day after it was repaired.

I've heard quite a few stories of sellers holding out from those low ball offers then stuff like this happens or the car gets a flat battery or develops a new fault, needs insuring/taxing until it's sold etc and they would have just been better off taking a small cut in price at the outset. Isn't hindsight wonderful?

Wouldn't bother me for that money. £500 (or whatever) is a bargain and I would buy it off you if I were in the market for a similar car.
