I had a 2000 W202 the 2.3. I really liked it, but rust became an issue. The earlier ones to about 1996 had oil based paint so rust a bit less. All I can add to the above post is that a load of weird electrical issues and dash errors and things like the cruise not working can come down to replacing the brake light switch down at the pedals. Fiddly but cheap and the switch was cheapest from the main dealer surprisingly.
Yes, its amazing how delicate the whole electrical system is on older Mercs, a good battery, good earths on a car can eradicate quite a few issues which lead to much head scratching, on my own W202 the remote and central locking stopped working, all good again once battery fully charged!

These any good? Apparently, AC fan is noisy sometimes and clutch is quite high, but seller says it's been like this for a few years. Tracking needs doing too and there is a big scrape on the front corner:

Seen a cheap 2.7T auto which looks interesting.

Does that scuff run right down the passenger side too?

Even if it doesnt, theres a couple of hundred sorting out the bumper and you'd need to budget for a clutch at some point, maybe £300 including fitting.

And then theres the aircon fan.

Wouldnt do it for me personally....

700 for a nova saloon? Really?!? Anyone want to buy a bag of my defecation for £700?
They've added two "0"s by mistake!

P
Decent price for one of those, their days of Max Power and council estate specials are over now and the sporty ones especially are rising in price
But four door saloons......?

I've reflected on it and it doesn't do anything for me either. smile

I wondered about the scratch too but haven't seen it in the flesh so not sure.

Incoming -

Won a auction tonight for ford puma , 2002 reg , 68k , mot until oct

It's a puma so i guess i'm getting some free rust chucked in but if it lasts until next mot that'll do me.

Can't wait to see how it handles compared to my old 172 cup on the roads over exmoor.

Yeah .

Pick it up tomorrow so we'll see how much free rust I've got then a quick blast over exmoor or the quantocks.

£500 , 69k , mot until oct.

No service history so cam belt needs doing and brakes are rubbish but handles great.

What about that rust? Or too early to say...
Seems bloody cheap though. Good result there, surely? smile

Obviously it comes with free rust.

Won't get it on a lift until Thursday but there's a bit inside one of the rear wheel arches but looks better than a lot I've seen .

For £500 if it runs for a year that'll do me but my track record of keeping cars isn't good , 4 cars in a year and a half smile

I had one for 15 months, surprisingly comfortable and practical, good fun to chuck around, although terrible traction from the proxes in the wet, guess peak torque at 6800rpm doesn't help! biggrin
Total repairs were a maf sensor and a seized brake caliper, nearly at 200k miles when I sold it.

Throughly recommended, everyone in my family thought it was a "very fancy sports car" little did they know it cost less than a grand..

It's gone... what was it?

That £500 Puma has really made me want to chop in my sheddy Saab 9-3.
