You need to travel further for decent sheds under £500 or know people. Got my e46 330i manual touring for £350 as it needed new suspension. £190ish for coilovers later it was on the road.
Yes. It's looking that way.

It puts me off a bit as I've looked at three cars lately locally and they have all been pups. Nothing minor, as I know I won't get a perfect car at this price point. But one had a knackered clutch, one had no oil in the engine at all and the key didn't really work, and the final one had the top of the engine glued on.

Need to get the search radius increased. hehe
Living in Lincs, everything is at least 25 miles away from you... Just drive a bit further. tongue out

Great for winter weather. People round here are driving like it's a sunny summer's day.

Anything specific to look out for? I guess being an auto you need to check things like reverse gear.

If it's up for £250, how much part ex did they give the poor sod who traced it in?

Like the look of that. Looks like a good run around (I don't need a car for work). May have to call them but wouldn't be able to get up there until sat.

They're tough old buses, check the autobox changes as it should and off you go.

I'd say they paid no more than £100 for it.

As mentioned above the MOT history is pretty good, that could run for another 100k.

Keep us updated if you do go and have a look.

Drive it around different roads at different speeds eg slow corners, faster roads, round roundabouts. If it clunks/jerks when changing then depending on how bad, the box might only have a year or less life in it.

That doesn't mean it is a write off - I have had two similar with varying degrees of autobox problems and they have lasted way beyond expectations and were only sold on as I fancied a change of car. You just have to drive it more sympathetically and wait for the gear to change before accelerating.

Thanks. Will give them a call later in the week. If it's still there I'm tempted to get a train up there if I can.

A years ticket on this Aero manual with ventilated seats. If I was even slightly nearer Carlisle then i'd have bought myself another black Saab.

I also note that the existing registration plate (X79XAO) doesn't come up on the DVLA database?

Selling cars at this money attracts all sorts, I'm not surprised a dealer wants to be very up front about the lack of warranty.

The plate is a strange looking one though and it does seem very cheap.

Agreed

When you see they want a good price for their other saab it does suggest this is cheap for a reason.
