But the cardboard in the boot
The boot liner (the cover over the tyres inflator etc) so to speak is "cardboard" not the actual floor...

Steve
Don't remember that being "cardboard" in mine. I do remember Clarkson 'saying' that for dramatic effect on TV!

It was a fantastic car! And the noise was just superb.

But, in the end, for me (and probably for many other 'fantasists' if they are truthful to themselves) it was also "fantastic" in the truer sense of the word.

As someone else said above, it's a car that I'm sure can really only be fully appreciated within the environment of a track setting. On public roads in the U.K you can only begin to appreciate it for a few (highly illegal!) seconds at a time...and I live in an area of very light traffic and fast open roads. For those few seconds, if one were caught....well, let's just say...Her Majesty would be enjoying Her Pleasure for quite some time!

I'm not someone rich enough to be able throw one round a track with full gusto because I couldn't have afforded to run the risk of damaging it. So after two years of ownership and very sparing use the motives for keeping it, the money tied up in and continued ownership costs became highly questionable. To me, it began to feel like quite a lot of money for that noise but each has to make up their own mind.
In terms of values going up? Well, I don't know. Maybe a bit? But any such increases need to be offset against ownership and running costs. If you drive it a lot those might become quite significant. If you don't drive it much...well then see above.

I certainly don't regret the experience.

Just going by what I've been told (was told it was recycled compressed cardboard) I've not actually looked at mine to confirm or deny as what ever it is is covered by carpet...

I must have missed the point.

Weight? Power?

I understand they have a bit less and a bit more. But the cardboard in the boot kind of detracts from its "everyday" ability - what's the point?

Cars like a F360 CS; now that, I can understand.

This? Just a shopping trolley that's been tweaked.
But what better way to get the shopping home? wink

I owned a CSL for 18 months back in 2006 I loved the car, the noise the gearbox everything really, sold it because I thought it was bringing the hooligan out in me(truth is I got married and wanted to build a house!!) I got an e46 M3 after that great car but didn't really get me looking out of the side window !! I have not had a Monte Carlo with a Manual Gearbox, looking out the side window all the time, not as vocal as CSL but love this car nearly as much.
Not sure what will happen when I get me E30 M3 with Lotec turbo back from the doctors.

Back to topic, sold my CSL for 29k in 2007 cant see why I should pay more for that car now awesome it is but the E92 is just fantastic.

Whilst some may say I am wrong I feel I really do know my M3's having owned and driven many variants.

Is your knowledge of the CSL limited to what you saw on top gear?
I live in Sydney, and am not interested in that idiot JC, so whatever passes for motoring "journalism" has no bearing.

What, exactly, do you disagree with, and why?
