2003/2004 4.2ltr A8 can be found for around 5k. That's is a helluva lot of car for the money!
They do look seriously nice for the money yes. Strange a VW Phaeton of the same age actually costs more. Anyway think I'm going to be sensible and postpone this potential purchase for a while as it feels a bit reckless, thanks for all the suggestions anyway!

not alot, apparently a standard one will do about 181-185, mine has a remap to approx 310 bhp (it was last year so probably a couple down by now)- I have had it to 170 and still going strong so don't doubt it at all, I could have done more but didnt want to risk it on the wheels which are in need of a refurb.
I have heard claims of them breaking 190 with the remap but I would say this is highly unlikely unless downhill with hurricane winds behind. It is alot quicker than the figures would suggest however.

Not a huge amount of BHP but the torque is pretty good, its considerably faster over 120mph than my 911/ Esprit Turbo/ bored out TVR but nowhere as near fun. Its my family wafter by trade so it doesnt get used in that way much. Still.... shocked the hell out of a v6 Alfa a few months back lol
