Anyone know what the 0-100mph and 1/4mile times are on the coupe and or this model?
As above, it's not really the point of the car, but for the record 0-100 takes 8.5 seconds.

Which is pretty damn impressive actually... Only a few years ago that would have been seen as supercartastic. F40'tastic. Whatever , its proper fast. smile

Also the factory is hummingly busy, exports are booming....
Where is the evidence to support that statement? Which cars are selling well, and in what markets?

"Lotus – 137 vehicles sold [in 2012 in UK], down 58.4%"

http://cars.uk.msn.com/features/uk-car-sales-2012-...

"...Proton-owned Lotus was THE lowest selling marque in the UK in 2012. Management and cashflow issues have cost Lotus the confidence of suppliers as well as customers, making for sporadic production suggesting genuine reasons for concern. Fingers and toes crossed for a brighter 2013."
All those figures are for the UK. That's understandable because the UK target market is skint. Hence why the majority of Exiges I've seen coming out of the factory have been LHD.

The other question to ask is if there is a market why someone like Porsche (who do like their niches) haven't released a hardcore gt3 boxster. You could argue that that was the previous gen spyder, but did that sell because it was a limited run model or would it sell in the required numbers if it was a mainstream car?

I'm yet to be convinced. But I'm not in the market so this is based purely i my gut feeling smile
Because it would only steal sales from the 911.

I had no idea the Exige had got so mental, want...

If you factor out the 4WD launch advantage of the GTR and its rapid gearchanges, when the Lotus is on the move and accelerating, it is achieving a higher level of acceleration than the NeeeeSan (oops US mode) anyway on average below 100mph smile

On a tight track I'd give the Exige the advantage. On the 'Ring or Spa or Silverstone my guess is the GTR will lap the Lotus within the hour wink

Can't understand why people refer to them as weekend toys and rattle on about irrelevant impracticalities. Each time I drive it my driving gets a little bit better, so I drive it all the time. After a while it gets to be a way of life - like cocaine. (Elise 111S then Evora now Elise SC). I like the look of the new Exige S - The Toyota engines seem to be a perfect match for Elise/Evora/Exige IMHO - perhaps if I sell one of my children ! http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/imgs/4.gif

Quite. I remember when the Elise S1 came out plenty of them could be seen being used as everyday cars, and in comparison tests they were regularly put up against things like BMW Z3s, which seems odd nowadays, but given that they were both two-seater sports cars with similar price tags (and the Elise actually rode better than the Z3), it made sense when both were new.

For some strange but pleasant twist of fate, there are a fair few people in the small town where I live who own Vauxhall VX220s (at least four of them, which is a lot for a two-square-mile area, leading me to think that one person got one and it gave the rest ideas so they all followed suit). They're all daily-drivers.

You may have missed the point of an exige/elise smile
I don't think this kind of comment applies any longer to anything but the basic Elise. By any measure, the V6 Exiges are fking quick in a straight line! smile

The supercharged Elise (S?) also.

A lot of people are saying it is too expensive but I can't see anything else on the market at the moment in the same price range as this that ticks all the boxes I'm looking for in a car. I'm currently looking for a car in this price bracket that has to meet the following criteria.

Soft Top / Convertible
Good performance (ie sub 5s 0-60mph)
Big presence on the road
Capable of going away for the weekend in

The car is going to be a weekend toy and although the obvious rival is the Boxter which could arguably tick the boxes better for me and I'd get more use out of it they are just too common on the road. I want something that people notice when it drives past them and something a bit out of the ordinary.

Any suggestions to an alternative?

I had an Elise 111S before, it was great but I've always wanted an Exige, to be honest I probably wont track it so a slightly softer more usable on the road Exige sounds perfect for me. I think I prefer the more OTT looks of the coupe tho.....tough decisions

I dare say Lotus would fit a silly wing and splitter to one of these if you asked them nicely.

Really?

People who are in the market for £100,000+ 465bhp big winged manic 911 really going to say "hang on, ill buy the £55,000 no winged mini manic boxster instead?"

Im not convinced.

The thought has crossed my mind wink

Do you think the coupe would hold its value better than the roadster?
