I don't think the m135i is the bargain it once was. A salesman at the Goodwood BMW stand was trying to explain to me why it is now priced at 35k instead of 29k. Basically, they've advertised it as a bargain (i.e. under 30k and near the gti), but demand has been better than

expected; having found themselves snookered, they have added some (compulsary) options, to increase the price. HMMMFF...
They're £30,570 now....

I know this is par for the course but I'm feeling a little disappointed that these aren't looking as awesome as the concept pieces; I have to agree with Repent. Especially when the concept has been pushed so recently in TV advertising: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-x36kGh7eUA

It"s only the bumpers and exhaust that are different so maybe they'll make the M4?

Sounds a little disappointing, to be honest. Are there any pictures of the one with all the M Performance bits on it? They should do a 435is with all the bits stuck to it from the factory.

One would hope smile of course we're yet to still see the range of trims / options (like the all LED headlamps from the concept) because I know that like on the 1 Series, the difference in look / feel of a basic Urban contrasted with an M Sport with some extra options is quite vast.

'28 always equals 2.8 six to me, not 2.0 four.

Why doesn't it work? Because it's new?

Every other M car has its own "motorway version"..
Quite. Who cares what it's called. Funny how M4 gets all the motorway jokes, has no one heard of the M3 motorway?

And as someone else said its a global name change anyway.

Personally I care about stuff like how it drives than what it's called.

Looks tidy, I'm thinking the M4 will be a stunner.

I wonder why the 3, 4, 5 and 6 series all have a 'corporate family face' and the 1 series looks adopted.

Wonder if they will call it a 3 series in China/Japan?

Proper mechanical jobbie?

Is this even available as an option for the M135i (I thought it wasn't)?
Yup. Not available on M135i, although Birds will happily sell you one aftermarket
So if available on the 4 Series, why not the M135i? Seems odd especially as they are pushing the 135i as a mini M sub-brand.

Seen photos with the M tech kit, looks much improved over the standard/SE version imo.

Everyone alluding to the M4 in relation to names of British motorways needs to stop being so myopic - this car is going to be known around the world as the M4, for the most part this means very little to other countries.

I'm actually glad BMW have seen fit to rename the coupe with a "4" designation - the game has moved on and niche marketing is where it's at now. So what if they used another name for 30 years? They're 100% within their rights to change it if they see fit! If it affects their bottom line then I'm sure we'll see the return of the old name but if they continues to profit as they have done before then why should anyone really care? It's only a name!
Lets not forget we have the M3 motorway too

God that nose looks worse every time I see it. The rest of it is alright though, in a typically Germanic way. I dare say it'll drive decently enough for a 1.5 tonne saloon car.

I totally agree with what you are saying but hopefully the M sport model might look a little better as that model looks pretty apologetic on the rear end...hopefully!

What actually is the point of the "hand you the seatbelt thingy"?? Is it useful if you're too fat to be able to reach it normally?

I've driven odd cars with them in and they do seem thoroughly pointless. Not nearly as daft as the (primarily old US market) cars that actually put your seatbelt on for you when you close the door, though. biggrin

I suppose they'd have a purpose if you regularly use the back seats, but if that was the case I'd have thought you'd get the four-door anyway.

Looks great and I'm assuming it'll drive as well if not better than my 3 series. Should be quite a machine.

Good to see BMW also catering for a market that doesn't really exist.
