RE: BMW 4 Series M Performance - pics!
Discussion
I am tiring of the "Russian Doll", more of the same German designs. Why they ever put that squiggly "camouflage" on test cars is beyond ne and verging on the laughable - they all end up looking the same.
It will be a nice car to drive, and it will be expensive when it is all kitted out - but its all too familiar and a tad tedious.

What ever happened to it looking like this?
I was really looking forward to the new 4 series after seeing these pictures, but now looking at that M sport its dull and boring.
Used to have a 330i e92 and thought it was a great looking car. BMW have really lost their way with all these new cars looking the same, i really struggle to tell the rear of the 3 series and 5 series apart.
Not to mention no more N/A straight sixes wtih all these 4 cylinder turbos.

When the e92 was revealed everyone on here moaned about the looks compared to the e46 (they still do) BMW can't win. Not to mention no more N/A straight sixes wtih all these 4 cylinder turbos.
I agree the concept looks far better but the bean counters are in charge.
Can't say i'm sold on the carbon tat. But the 4 series looks awesome imo!
I do think its a shame that BM have followed suit with Audi and Merc having a separate coupe model, suppose they think it might be too complicated for the humble consumer to have to decide whether they want a 3 series estate/saloon/cabrio/coupe. But what's done is done, and all that, i think the 4 series looks excellent

I think Harris was being ridiculous talking about the name 4 series the way he did. It's no different to any of the other numbers is it....
Also, mentioning the M4 will sound stupid because it sounds like a motorway.
Well, what about the M3,M5 and M6 then?
Who gives a monkey about the number?
I'll admit I'm surprised they've done it but there we go.

So the cheapskates get to have carbon and some diffusers on their 420ds? Great...
Cheapskates ?? from someone who drives a 1.4 Civic !! If you could afford one you'd have one in a shot, but until then don't slag off those of us that can make the choice !!Edited by chrisemersons on Wednesday 24th July 13:32
For god's sake! BMW are offering upgraded brakes, different wheels, carbon trim and engine upgrades (i.e. stuff that PH's should be into to (or at the least no opposed to)) and what do we get? A load of negative reaction on here that they are wasting their time and its all tat. What website am I on - Eco News Daily!?
People need to distinguish between whether they personally like what is being offered and whether they would consider buying it and whether this should be made available to customers at all. Even though I probably won't ever have a 4 Series, I think it is good that they offer this sort of stuff because, like with Mountune, it doesn't interfere with the manufacturer's warranty. And what is wrong with more power and upgraded brakes? The visual carbon trims are more subjective, I admit, but still. Would you rather have this sort of stuff available from the manufacturer or be limited to third party modifications? Personally, I would prefer to have the choice.

Why on earth should PH be "into" different wheels and carbon trim?
Kind of missing his point I was just questioning the idea that bolting random bits of plastic onto a car was somehow a "PH" thing to do. I don't view these sorts of "upgrades" as being any different from what people like Kahn and Mansory tend to offer; I don't like them but I can see there is a market. More choice is rarely a bad thing for the consumer.
