It's great that it's going to bring a lot of foreign money into the country.

But by the power of Greyskull, that is one hideous sack of st.

It looks absolutely hideous.

The Range Rover is the class leader, it has been for a while, and will continue to be for the forseeable future.

I can understand why BEntley want to do this - there is a market out there and it will be a cash cow for them.

But, please, make it look special and imposing, and not a cartoon-like joke that it seems to be in the concept....

L405 for me any day....

If priced correctly, it will do better in the "I have purchased the most expensive, therefore I think 'best', luxury SUV / 4x4" competition.

Winning this sort of competition is very important to a particular sub-section of the target market. As is the Union Jack. And heritage.

Bentley has done it's market research well and this will be a good thing for Crewe.

Well done chaps! clap

Best of British, tally-ho, what-what

Almost without exception, off-roaders need to have an angular design theme or they just look wrong.

I thought the Cayenne was a howler but that is just awful.
What a relief. As a Cayenne owner, I cheerfully admit that the thing is a fright pig. However, now I will no longer have the ugliest SUV on the road.! Yes!...they have taken the Cayenne/Touareg and made it worse.

So who is clever enough to earn the massive amount of money required for one of these, but then stupid enough to spend that money on one of these?
I just snorted , glad I didn't have a mouthful of coffee . You are making humor ,no?

Good grief! Needs a refresh before launch / lunch. Delete as applicable. I'm glad its creating jobs but outside the far eastern markets who'd by it?

I mean, sheesh! It makes the L405 look more regal than it already is (if that's possible).

Did the design clinics really give this design the thumbs up? Really?

There is no point in trying to apply normal comments here. VW know exactly what they are doing ie build something that's costs about 20% more to build than a Q7 then charge like a wounded bull for it.

They know their market - people who have more money than sense and need to be seen in the latest appendage...

There is no design logic at all here...

PH'sers will hate but the odd one may secretly buy just to put the dogs and kids in of course. The world especially the USA will love it and it will probably sell well.
If like Porsche with the Cayenne this is what helps pay to keep them building their other cars then so be it but it will still look hideous to me.

An obvious move for the VAG business who appear to be the current global masters of badge engineering. No doubt much of the car that is out of sight of the customer will be shared with the rest of the VAG premium brands - powertrain, underbody and the rest. I agree with most commentators that is does not score well on looks - the rounded corners give it an overfed look. That may not matter to its target market.

After all it will carry a Bentley badge, will be expensively trimmed and cost a bucket load or two of money. These will be its USPs and they will succeed in extracting cash from the nouveau riche seeking to buy prestige as much in the UK as in the Middle and Far East. Tick another box for VAG marketing.

You lot are all living in the past. I remember the press comments when the second generation Range Rover came out ~London Taxi~ etc. Not much better when the current generation came out ~Lost the spirit~ ~Far too tall, it'll topple over~ etc. etc.

The Porsche Panamera is a far better looking car than the Aston equivalent, like most British designs, too scared to rock the boat and design something radical consequently there is sod all headroom in the rear whereas the Porsche can seat adults. Nor is there anything wrong with the current Mini Pug, whilst it may appear ugly, just how stupid do you imagine the original Mini was considered ~it'll never work~ ~engines the wrong way round~ etc. but they were comparing it to conventional Morris Minors and Oxfords etc. which were considered the height of design taste by the proletariat at the time.

If the boundaries ain't pushed we would still be driving Ford Popular's and Zepheyrs, which were also considered an Americal abomination at the time.

Completely agree with previous points that it will sell and great news on the jobs.

I'm not into SUV's but even if I had the cash I'd rather buy the RR or Cayenne
