Ta for response.

Interesting comment re driving-style/mpg: "Short-shift it and sit in the torque band and it'll sup quite gently." Forum 'experts' tend to opine that "revs not boost", albeit using light throttle, is best for a petrol turbo's mpg - seems the 'experts' are wrong. How unusual.

Cheers smile
I just get it up to speed as quick as possible and shift.. I've averaged 28 - 30 MPG, whilst still having fun.. Mines only done 350 miles so still waiting for it to bed in.

Hmm, 4 months doesn't seem very long for an extended test. If you ponied up for a Mountune upgrade would they let you have it for longer?

We really should send someone undercover into a Ford dealer and see how much the real world price for one of these is.
As already mentioned, mine cost 19.5K a couple of weeks ago on ST-2 trim.. That's with Mytouch, sync, Metallic black paint, privacy glass etc.

No way could the Estate version cost an additional 10K.. It says here estate version ST-3 trim, £22,295.00, the list price isn't 29K it's £26,595..

http://www.fordretailonline.co.uk/new/ford/focus-s...

And I can guarantee you can buy it cheaper..

I have an ST3 Estate

I'm interested to hear that you have "Mytouch" - thats the touchscreen entertainment system that UK buyers don't have the option of having..

Which part of your screen is touch sensitive?

No worries mate - i agree with you on the price thing.

I have no idea where they have got their info from - I paid £24k for a frozen white ST3, Style pack, Door protectors and privacy glass.

Then with Ford credit you get another £2k off. So for £22k you get a hell of a lot of car!!

Is it just dark because it looks like privacy glass at the front too?

Agree 100% it's a lot of car for your money, add the mountune in as well and it's a crazy good deal. Although I'm a little unsure about the mountune kit as it's a little over crazy in first and second. I'd much prefer the kit to add some 3rd to 6th grunt..

I think the fronts are tinted slightly - it was Ford option fit, so all legal.

I have seen the performance graphs of the Mountune upgrade and the torque band looks lovely - a lot of people are saying poor things about the numbers on the Mountne upgrade, but how it drives is the key factor.

£1450 fitted is a lot of money, most of that on the intercooler - which alot of insurance companies shy away from.

I'm happy to keep mine standard for the time being and look to get the Mountune once they have had a few months rolling it out.

Not sure of you are a member of this club - very good and lots of info

You should find that the torque steer calms down a little when the tyres have scrubbed in, mine still pulls, but not like it did when i first had it.

Who buys an estate to tow these days anyway. Do you??? I am sure you dont but just want to be a wise ass. Most people who tow buy a 4x4/SUV. Even if it were an estate to tow, Im sure it more than likely would be a diesel, you would have to be insane to get a petrol to do towing on a regular basis.

£23995 for an ST-2 estate in Spirit blue, with a few bits bolted on, sony dab, style pack, privacy glass, pre registered I admit, but none the less:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

List is around £25800 so I am assuming you could nobble a few extra quid off of their curent price?

Er Me. I tow maybe twice a year so why drive a stupid 4x4/SUV or Diesel all year round just to have to tow for two days towing a year?

Besides, mine has more torque than the diesel so towing is easier with the petrol version. biggrin

Speaking of Mountuned STs, I assume the current ST has beefier drive-shafts compared to its predecessor, which would often wilt under the strain of a Mountune FMIC/remap's extra torque?

I am getting around 33mpg on average from my ST-2 (hatch), around 38mpg on a long run and high 20's around town.

I thought that was about right for a 2.0l petrol car and pretty good for one with 250bhp?

And while we're moaning the 'evens' only speedo is a pain too; OK, it's not that hard to fill in the gaps but given 30, 50 and 70 are numbers you really need to keep tabs on in UK driving it can be frustrating.
Hang on, let's have a look at the photo PH has kindly provided.

Sorry if this sounds uncharitable but there's a big marker between 20 and 40... which it's not hard to interpret as 30. It seems pretty clear to me. Is it really so frustrating?

I find a tow bar mounted bike rack is a damn sight easier to put downhill mtbs on than a roof mounted one. So no Focus ST for me which pretty much just leaves the Skoda Octy VRs as the only other mid-size fastish petrol estate (I do too many short journeys to even think of a diseasel). Or possibly a 2nd hand S4 avant...
