As a long-term owner (5.5 years & 65000 miles), i can offer an honest view. When i bought the car it was standard, but now the spec list is very different :

As a bog-standard car, the Accord is not really a 'true' 200bhp car. I will list the reasons below :
For a start, the only time the engine produces 200+bhp is in a very small powerband between about 6900rpm to 7300rpm.
The gearing is long. Way too long. 1st and 2nd are ok, but 3rd, 4th and 5th are an absolute joke on a 1300kg car with this type of engine.
The most embarrassing speed to be caught out at whilst carrying 3 passengers is around 90-95. Once you change up to 4th, you'll be in VTEC but you may find a gutless zone between 95-105 because the Honda engineers decided that willy-waving about top speed was more important than acceleration in the higher gears.
The best way to avoid this design flaw is to fit a 4.64 final drive (or higher) to bring the maximum in-gear speeds back down to a level that suits the nature of the engine and weight of the car.
3rd 96mph>84mph, 4th 125mph>113mph, 156mph>143mph.
At the current age of this car, i would strongly urge anyone thinking of buying one to think very carefully before buying. If you're a mechanic and like taking cars to bits, then this car really is perfect for you.
Despite the above criticisms, i do still genuinely like/love the car (mostly the engine) very much. So much so, that i dare not sell it and have every intention of putting it into storage or transplanting the engine/gearbox/lsd into a different car at some point in the future....

Still having no issues with mine, and honestly the gearing is not that bad!
Also averaged 29mpg on a 500 mile trips few weeks ago at .80 leptons with the AC on.
Pretty good IMO!
