And yes, those are stick-on, battery-powered LED lamps on the bonnet and wing mirrors......

Nice one! Please try and source some Alfa alloys cheap from somewhere (I'm sure you can from alfaowner or somewhere else) and get rid of those wheel covers!

Let us know how the twin spark sounds near the red line...

A set of alloys would double the cost of the car, so I'd suggest this:

http://search.ebay.co.uk/121148580187

30 quid for a set of OEM plastic wheel trims.

The 155bhp version of the Twinspark engine I had in my 156 was better than the 2 litre in my E46 320i, which surprised me as there was around 6 years difference in car age.

Just got linked to this from alfaowner, top stuff, although i did get a 12v for free last year. Just got another v6 one with chassis number 72!
Great cars, good mpg for a 25 year old v6 and you'll never lose it in a car park.

Brilliant! Loved mine, ran it for 18 months and only needed an exhaust, then sold it for what I'd paid, a grand.

Chris, that's the second time I've seen that photo on PH. I'm not sure what looks better the woman or the 164, and I seriously like 164s.

I test drove a 164 just before I landed my first job with a company car.

Sadly, I thought it was a bit over-hyped - not that quick and far too soft for a sporty brand.

Conversely, the similar age 155 I tried felt very 'perky' - even with the same engine.

I was gutted, as the reality was a million miles away from the dream - I'd always wanted a 164.

I've driven a 24V a few times. I didn't get over it. Perhaps a few more goes and I'd have got to the bottom of it, but I never spent enough time in it for the 'phwoarr' factor to wear off.

I've only ever driven a twinspark - I reckon a V6 would be very different!

This was a great looking car when it was new and it still looks quite good today.
Always loved the 1988 Alfa Romeo 164 Procar Touring Car.

Although the Procar was hardly a 164 was it....!! Mid mounted V10. Some interesting stuff here http://berlinasportivo.com/pages/164pro.php

I'm glad you gave the car a chance. What price was it originally listed at on the Autotrader website? Was it £450? £350? I was considering it even at those higher prices but like many that have commented it was quite a trek.

Elephantstone, I know from experience sometimes if you snooze, you lose. Unlucky.
