I had 2 S2000s and a Z4M, the Z4M was in a completely different league in terms of performance.
Did I say it wasn't? Every M3 that I have driven feels much faster than it actually is, the noise, the low down boot - getting into an S2000 feels awful, almost no power in comparison.

However, to say that from a rolling start they are a completely different league performance wise in my eyes is naive.

sorry but this is balls. I've been out on track in my s2000 up against M3s twice recently and they make it look like a shopping trolley, and trust me I was in the right gear. And Z4Ms, as long as the driver can get it out of the corner right, will walk all over an s2000 too.

We'll have someone saying they can give a GTR a run for it's money as long as VTEC kicks in Yo! next.
I'm not sticking up for the S2000 like that, don't be such a moron. My old turbo MX5 would walk all over my S2000, it isnt a hugely fast car at all.

I'm not going to get into an internet argument but you said an s2000 in its stride was pretty much a match for an M3, which is manifestly not the case.

I actually saw you (your car in Bedford).
I was in my friends metallic blue Elise (the guy with the yellow lid).
Do you remember?

How well does a bog standard S2000 stand up to a track day? Not too rolly and brakes OK out of the box?

Mine was pretty good standard, the brakes were good although I did manage to ruin a new set of pads but I had little fade, this was at Oulton a while ago now. It was a handful when wet on track though.

I upgraded my brakes and discs to Stop-Techs, Motul 5 brake fluid, full Geo, put four brand new Bridgestones on it, then took it racing. Runs and handles like a dream. Tighter than one of Jimmy Savile's girlfriends. It was designed to be hammered round a track, not farting about on the school run.

Comparing bhp/torque is misleading. It's worth looking at weights of the cars at the same time, which helps to explain why the S2000 is sometimes closer to a more powerful car than you might expect.

Sorry, i agree with your statement and was laughing at the person who suggested the s2000 was on par with a m3!!!

I love S2000 debates on here it really does divide people, many who own them are really blinkered about their performance, when really on it they are quite quick but not really as fast as some owners think they are.

But then again some people don't get them and really miss the fact that they are a very capable sports car and superb fun to drive.
