Have you seen the prices for the 2 TestaRossas sold at Silverstone at the weekend? Good news for anyone who bought a good example over the past 5 years.

Doing it right. I love 90s performance cars. You are so much more envolved with the business of driving than most current cars. Totally agree regarding the condition too. It's nice to find a car that's been meticulously looked after but which hasn't been a garage queen. So liberating in terms of when and where you drive it. Look forward to seeing the video?!..

Would be quite neat to have a full sized one of those or maybe a two seat Sega Rally arcade setup - I wonder how much a reconditioned/new full size arcade version goes for these days... scratchchin

A 328 as a keeper I could understand but a TR.... (unless you were planning on making 5k from writing about it and then selling it for a profit after a couple of months... smile )

Totally not my cup of tea. Zero appeal from where I am sitting. About as interesting as a 911 and probably would not want one when offered for free.

But I can't express how much I like the author for being a free-thinking car enthusiast.Godspeed.
Odd coming from a guy who loves Italian cars....

That would make sense as I saw it driving through Chepstow about a week and a half ago...If I had known it was Chris would have given him a wave.....Looked in lovely condition but not a fan myself....the car that is not Chris.

Sorry i do not agree - one built for excesses of the 80's, not one for me and wonder how these models rate with corrsion like the 348s of that era....
I haven't seen a rotten TR or 512 yet. Unlike their BMW contemporaries of that era
Most cars kept in garages as opposed to the street do a good job of not rotting

I'm probably in the minority, but whilst I appreciate the engineering and the external styling, I just don't feel the same regarding the interior. However, credit where it's due, the road presence is amazing and still makes me smile, especially as they seem to be such a rarity nowadays.

In relation to the noise they produce, I was a couple of cars behind a 348 (another rarity) on the M23 on Sunday evening, absolutely glorious sound, being driven by an older couple, I could sense the feeling of "occasion" just driving past....

Only know one person with an arcade machine in his house. He went down two years or so back for murdering with hammers.

Just saying

I'm pretty sure rolled up somewhere I still have a huge poster of the side profile of a 512TR. Proper car, good effort and I look forward to a video.

Your enthusiasm proving just how much being passionate about a car derives from the whole ownership experience, often as much from sensitivity around the little details in the driving experience as well as how the car makes you feel when you see it parked.

As for the driving experience I remember from my days working for a Ferrari dealer how the quirkiness and challenge made real by that big lump sitting on top of the gearbox; something that is less than ideal, made for a wonderful experience. It was the driver having to actually drive the thing without any help from the cars dynamics, such memories of only two adrenaline soaked trips, although sadly for me not to many of them for obvious reasons. So I am highly envious of Chris's opportunity to really get to grips and experience such pure driving pleasure in a way that I couldn't.

Still I now get to own a car to own meagre budget that is also a dynamic black sheep, which I love dearly, and I also have to stop and gaze at it and think aaaaah. Its great to be in an automotive long term relationship!

CHRIS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep us up to date on your ownership experience with your new redhead.

I was responding to the question posed, not ruminating on whether the flow of air around a car stored in the open is better than the moisture in an unheated concrete garage smile

Saw a Testarossa for the first time in many years last week crawling round the carpark at Lomond Shores. Loved them when they were current and they still look fab now. smile

Sorry, my post was probably a bit of a mental leap for some on here.

Ferrari 512TR - garaged - sans rust

BMW 316i - left on the street, crashed into a bit - rusts

Great buy, great read. Love it.

Little request if possible Mr H. Every time I read your reports or posts in twit world you keep referencing cars you've owned in the past. Would love you to post up the full list of you previous cars. I can imagine it would make great reading as you certainly sound like you've lived some great dreams car wise.

Here's hoping... smile
This! I'd love to read that, but d'you reckon Chris can remember them all?!

I saw this on Twitter y'day and offered Chris an original 512TR sales pamphlet to go with his new car (I wasn't expecting any money for it - just be nice for it to be united with a TR). Never even acknowledged me.

Unbelievable.
