For a laugh, (yep I'm leaving myself open for smarty pants comments I know), I put in 2 routes to get from my home to plymouth via, route 1, shorter but theres the tamar bridge toll and 2, via Tavistock longer but the toll saving. After trying to work out the calculations in my head, toll v fuel etc, I suddenly remembered that at the end of the actual journey route description they write the distance and fuel used. They quoted 17.3 miles and 3.61 pounds of fuel.....WTF do they drive!
Am I getting something wrong here...lol. Or is it a plot?

You can enter your own fuel data mpg, etc in google and it will calc more accurately or just use the defaults.

17.3 miles at say £1.35 a litre = £3.61 at 29.3 MPG

What's so weird about that?

You can change it, but not with much accuracy.

It's a shame you can't just enter "MPG" rather than "Standard" or "High Consumption"

I was also trying to figure out why OP was surprised by this.

OP drives a Chim - perhaps he was surprised at how cheap the pence per mile figure is...
