could it possibly be that the BTCC was transitioning to the NSX- much like the motorcycles had several parts on them mid transformation?

A car company making inspiring adverts but uninspiring cars surely has its priorities about face.

Good point well made - fantastic advert but not the most inspiring (automotive) products these days.

Makes me want an NSX. No desire for anything else they currently sell though, apart from maybe the leafblower.

Lol I shouted at the TV the first time I saw the advert and saw the BTCC Civic doughnuting. Think Honda are morons and naive for thinking people wouldnt notice.

Honda probably didnt make the ad. That civic would have been some interns animation job at crazymotoringadverts4u.com

Most of their existing customers and potential customers don't want inspiring cars.

Maybe they should get their ad agency to design their cars...

A very enjoyable short film, but doesn't make me want anything made by Honda (BTCC civic aside!). However the Audi R8 advert REALLY makes me want an R8, a car that i'd previously dimissed and shown no interest in and am now looking (dreamily) at the classifieds.
The missus saw the R8 advert last night and asked if that was how the car was supposed to look, as it looks rubbish with the engine showing...

It interesting though that what is essentially a supercar (the R8) is being advertised on mainstream telly.I suppose it's about brand awareness and reinforcing that you can buy into a brand that makes a car that break the sound barrier.

Personally, i think the R8 advert is too safe, too straight (typically German some might argue) whereas the Honda advert is intelligent and has that element of "what's coming next" when you first see it, much like the Cog advert. At least neither are as banal as the BMW 4-series advert, which is just insipid and reflective of a dull-as-dishwater brand

Nice advert - like everyone else though, really annoying rear wheel drive BTCC civic.

Also, no S2000 makes me sad frown

Dunno I'd have the replica of this (that they're about to produce)...

They ran an article last week. Budget about £100,000 to be safe they reckon.

was there a significance/reference in the NSX numberplate? "BSS 8888"
Ayrton Senna's NSX had this plate.

Beco Senna something (Beco was his nickname).
Not sure what the 8888 means.
8 is a lucky number in Japan, great advert apart from the rwd BTCC car and not enough of the RC166 noise!

because they leave a mystery nut behind on takeoff.
It is not a mystery nut left by the plane, it is continuity to how the advert started in the first place. Equally it serves a purpose of reaffirming that it was imagination/curiosity that created those models from the nut.

But your idea is certainly funnier smile

Poor form on RWD Civic too Honda, poor attention to detail to an advert that basically strives to deliver detail throughout.
