Looks ace. Provided they sort the shut line at the front of the bonnet! Better start saving. When is the M3 saloon being launched (if they are even doing one)?
It is the single most irritating thing about the all the new bmws, it just looks so cheap! Sort it out BMW Please!!just saying..

Will E9X prices fall much as a result of this?
Or
Being £10,000 more expensive it may help sustain value?
A good question.Or

From what I recall, the e9x didn't really affect the e46 as it was quite a different beast, and a chunk of coin more. Plus the drop in MPG and increase in road tax made the e46 look like really good value.
This probably won't hurt the e9x too much, but I predict a lot of e9x owners might want to get into this for the improved MPG.
But has the e9x got far to move? You can pick them up for sub 20k now, and with the e46 still hovering around 10k for a reasonable example, I can't see them getting much closer.

Fuel consumption issue is relevant - the new car is quite a quantum leap and no doubt there will be deals as every manufacturer tries to shift metal e.g.C63 AMG.But has the e9x got far to move? Circa 30's is where I expect the newish CP's one to settle at. Some will relate to what happened with the E39 M5.
Think it looks fantastic and that weight is very encouraging, hopefully a return to being a proper 'M3' (or M4 in this case) rather than another GT car.
Imagine what will happen when the tuners make the most of that turbo too! The saloon will be a contender for all the car you'll ever need.

Looks like it monsters the 911 and will have the legs on the AMG mercedes with that weight figure too.
Never mind the 911 C2, it compares pretty well with the new GT3. Sub four second 0-60 time no doubt.New Porsche 911 GT3 | NEW M4 Coupé | |
Torque | 325 ft/lbs | 398 ft/lbs |
Power | 469 bhp | 416 bhp |
Weight (DIN) | 1430 kg | 1495 kg |
Power to weight | 333 bhp/ton | 282 bhp/ton |
Torque to weight | 231 ft/lb/ton | 271 ft/lb/ton |
I corrected the power and torque to weight figures for the M4 as they are per imperial ton (which is 1,016kg).
