http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/sched...

Schedule 3 part 1 would seem to sugggest they must be capable of emitting white light.

They look awful, OP. If you really must have LED side lights (they'll bust - they always do!), get some daylight-coloured ones. You'll look a little bit like an Audi then too. biggrin
Cheap 'blue tint' 501 bulb ste like that will "bust" quick due to being Chinese eBay poop.

Buying proper LEDs which will be a true white colour last much longer than a standard bulb will by their very nature.

Just buy the proper thing and do a proper job not a half arsed eBay or Halfrauds tat.

why on earth didn't you research it first, if you had a small incline they weren't legal a quick google search wouldve solved it in seconds and saved you 'extensive amount of time' and looking a twunt on a forum, pm me if you wanna know how to fit led washer jets - they're not legal either btw.

It's really not difficult information to track down on the internet. It's illegal to show any colour other than white to the front, unless the headlights are only capable of showing yellow or indicating with amber lights.
rofl

Wrong on so many levels.

If its not difficult then you should have found the correct information.

You can show any colour to the front as long as it isn't red

However, there are certain lights that have to be white and replacing them with other colours would be an MOT failure. Sidelights are one. Have your normal sidelights and add extra blue or green lights and you would be perfectly legal.

Look at this picture in 4 or 5 years time and see if you can bring yourself to say it looks good.

I can't think of a worse "look" then a white car with blue sidelights (no headlights) and fog-lights on.
+1

Doesn't look foggy.. Oh wait you've got your fogs on to show off your blue lights. Sad.
Might just be drl's as the VAG group stick quite a lot of these down where the fogs usually are.
Nope, im pretty sure polo's just have their normal lights on. So the OP has purposely gone out of his way to look even more like a pillock.

Sorry OP, I have to agree with the majority on here. That isn't a very good look.

I spent an excessive amount of time putting them in yesterday, and didn't think while ordering them to be illegal, cause they're blue. Are they illegal?

Thanks
Great attempt at a wind-up Welsh man... Nearly worked but you wont' catch me.

A mate of mine emailed chief of police or something with the same question, apparently they are legal providing they aren't flashing.

Jeez guys they aren't that bad! How can a blue hue change everyone's opinion of a car. Seems most on here worry about what others think. Fack em.

Because its hard to put yourself in the mind of someone who forks out on a nearly new 1.2 shopping cart and then think it would be a good idea to put blue bulbs in the lights? Oh yeah the person who thinks you can only buy a new car in white.

You ever see these tv makeover shows where the house is done up in Barbara Carland pink, doilies everywhere. China dolls littered on every surface. The home owner believes it is the height of fashion.

A small minority of the audience is cooing "ohh. That's lovely."

Everyone else shakes their head in dismay.

Heads up to the Polo driver. Sir - it seems you lack good taste. You don't yet know it. (Although this thread may give you inkling)
Try and find some people with good taste and see if you can learn something.

Or go balls out and stick these car eyelash things on. They are just as ridiculous.
