I can't find a definition in the lighting definition over what constitutes blue/white/red etc. How much of a blue tinge to a white light do you get before it actually goes blue? Tinted windows have an exact definition of minimum 70% transmission - are colours specified by wavelength or temperature?

The OP is obviously young and asked a straightforward question - no need for some of the tool-like answers. We were all young once and he's just into his car albeit in a way we wouldn't be.

There's a reason this place has the reputation it does and this thread is another example.

Just be civil. Its not hard.
I agree

Me too, but it's nothing new. Challenging the status quo on PH has always been a risky business.

Why did you feel the need to resurrect a month old thread just to give a sermon?

Probably because the OP opened a new thread, and looking at his profile this was spotted?

How can HGV's get away with all the fairy lights on the front of them

Even white LEDs will fail the MOT as they are a cold white.

My van failed with white LEDs fitted because they weren't the same colour as a regular tungsten bulb.

Cause provided they have normal coloured sidelights on the front, they can have any coloured solid lights on the front, and unless I'm mistaken, its the same for cars...

They're all illegal too as far as I can see. Only white and flashing orange forward, red, flashing orange and reversing only rearwards as far as I am aware.

They're illegal unless in the correct colours. White front, red back and orange side. VOSA tend to turn a blind eye to it, as they do with most of the tat blocking half the windscreen.

I sent an excessive amount of time putting them in yesterday, and didn't think while ordering them to be illegal, cause they're blue. Are they illegal?

Thanks
I understand they are popular with people who rely on the local authority to provide their accomodation.

It is a very good look if you intend cruising sea front areas, the centre of small towns in the east midlands, or supermarket car parks in bigger cities.

It is also a useful modification if you wish to provide lifts for teenage girls in exchange for sexual favours and who share your taste for accomodation owned by the local authority or a housing association.

Blue lights work well on Vauxhall Corsa and other supermini type vehicles. To complete the look and to make the modificiation look authentic, I suggest a set of alloy road wheels - perhaps in black - a loud exhaust and perhaps a partly-installed or poorly-fitted body kit.

The addition of blue lights will not only impress your friends and other road users, but will earn you respect because people will see you have a good car sporting blue lights.

Good luck, and I hope the lights bring you joy, women and respect.

They look awful, OP. If you really must have LED side lights (they'll bust - they always do!), get some daylight-coloured ones. You'll look a little bit like an Audi then too. biggrin
VW offer Audi type LEDs on the Polo. He could just get new headlight units from VW.

This.

Just because I didnt respond at the actual time the thread was happening that its inappropriate to then comment on the thread.

PH has just become chock full of bitter, nasty, bullying keyboard warriors who appear to have skipped their youth and gone straight to nasty middle aged old men.

This place needs increasing numbers of users to survive (given its run on a commercial basis now)and it might be a good idea to give a little decency to those willing to have a go here.

It's OK I am sure the BBS wheels and cut springs will happen shortly.
FYI i was just showing the lights, that isn't my car. I have a 9n polo.

I would like BBS Wheels and coilovers.

But i would also like to have the Montreal 2 BBS VW (MK4 GTI) Wheels. As it looks nice and it also looks like a 9n polo GT TDI. But i'm not going to put the GT badge on the grill cause it will be silly.

It will look similar to this hopefully.

But if that doesn't pan out, it would be nice just to get BBS LM alloys like this

Sorry for digging up an old thread, i just thought it was pathetic that some of you decided to 'mock' me for having blue sidelights when it was completely irrelevant what i asked what you thought of them.

I love my car, i just want to have something unique and doesn't sound like st.

Also having a 1.2 isn't a bad thing. I always thought the motto was 'Low & Slow' ? As long as it looks nice what is the problem here?
