Ooh, you're not allowed to say that on here. If you like diesels, you must have given up on life / hate petrol engines / don't deserve to be called a car enthusiast.
I have been "told" many times that our RWD 300bhp bi-turbo diesel is far less of a drivers car than a:Octavia vRS
Golf GTi mk5
Focus 2.0 (not ST or RS)
MG ZS
And many, many others.
Only on PH ;-)

Mind you, I'm an accountant. With a grey car. And I'm wearing a grey suit today.
My life is so over.
Still, at least I can spell sacrilege
I don't like the look of the TVR Wedge.
I do like the look 10 year old German exec cars (think e39 5 series) on 15" wheels and high profile tyres. I also prefer them with gingercators.
I just don't see the point of fast barges (ie Merc S63 AMG).
I like the looks of the Kia Soul.
I've been on track days where I'm bored by lunchtime and have to force myself to drive round at 8/10th because I've paid for the full day. I think I actually prefer roadtrips to track days

I'm no fan of diesels but I'd much rather drive a good RWD diesel than any of those hot hatches. Octavia vRS
Golf GTi mk5
Focus 2.0 (not ST or RS)
MG ZS

I react worryingly enthusiastically to spotting a Proton Satria Gti on the road and have to tell my disinterested passengers that they had their handling fine tuned by Lotus...
...more so than if an actual Lotus drives past.
Well, they are considerably rarer than a Lotus......more so than if an actual Lotus drives past.

Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts are the most overpriced pile of ste on the roads today, their values are completely unjustified for an old shopping car.
The Focus RS is not the saviour of all hot hatches just because its fairly easily tunable its still a fk ugly overweight tank.
I hate the Delorean, a truly hateful looking car.
Here's the one that'll make me really popular. Most Noble M12's recently appear to be modified by tasteless idiots. Putting Lexua style rear lights in them and painting them black does not make the car better!

Go and work out how much it would cost you to switch to a thirsty petrol.
About £3500 - £6500 in my current car (which cost £6k), over the past 3.5 years / 50k miles. At the time I bought it my commute was on A and B roads, so in a fast car I would have gubbed my fuel economy by booting it everywhere. With a diesel I don't have to worry too much about how hard, or often I drive it, and at least I can use all the power available without emptying my wallet.Saying that my commute is now motorway so if I can manage to keep to 65-70 on cruise most days I could probably squeeze decent economy out of something more fun.
