I agree, except you can get a basic M135i for 26-27k as others on here have done! That's quite a chunk off the Cayman.

They're comparable to some, but not for others. If you simply don't need back seats or more luggage space they're comparable and you may consider both. If you do, then there's no comparison.

Slightly different but I know someone who had a 911 but Had to sell it as he needed more space. He got an RS4 avant. My old man was looking at a cayman S but baby meant it had to be something more sensible and got an E92 M3. In those cases they aren't comparable. But like you say in others they are.

I agree but I've never really understood why people buy cars (For the baby for example) that are compromised for their use/enjoyment because of occasional tasks they may have to perform.,
The classic case is a car bought to tow a caravan for 2 weeks a year but used 52 weeks a year with the commensurate compromises to fuel economy, handling, parking etc. Its crazy.

The point is that the M135i compromises very little despite its practicality and relatively tall/high weight. It is that good. Well in my experience anyway.
Of course it won't have the traction, feedback, agility or low polar moment of inertia of the Cayman, but dare I say it, it's more fun to drive ?
