Yes, coat is ready, so is the taxi. I even have a fire extinguisher to hand.

However, watching the XK180 video it made me think. "That would sound so much better without a supercharger".

My problem is, that during my (albeit very limited) car life venture, I've had my fair share of gearbox whine, and that noise just makes me wince.

I just can't help but think... hmm, driveshaft, propshaft, gearbox bearings? Oh wait, it's supposed to sound like that.

A nice listen to a twin screw s/c on a V8 should put any doubts of poor sound well and truly to bed smile

The only thing you could hear with this engine is the sound of screeching birds and small children being sucked in and chewed up. eekeekeek

Before i had the exhaust done on my jag, all you could hear under acceleration was supercharger whine.
It used to drive me mad!
Now its the right mix of exhaust and charger.

I'm with you OP.

The only reason I didn't get the TRD air filter for my Elise SC is because it really amplified the supercharger noise. (From videos I saw)

I'd much rather have a the exhaust note as the over-riding noise.

Yep, for me turbo is a lot easier on the ear.

Supercharger noise is just awesome. I couldn't get bored of it. I prefer it to the noise of a turbo, I'd rather have a good NA induction roar like I get from my Type R, or a supercharger whine.

It's a fairly distinctive noise and I can understand someone disliking it. Personally I love it though smile

Personally I love the sound, although I've never driven a car with one. I think the noise a supercharged Civic Type-R makes as it fires up off a straight is incredible.

But then, I also love the sound of a turbo spooling up under heavy acceleration, more so when it's in my car :-) It's the noise before big speeds start to happen...

I'm a middle-roader for supercharger whine - as long as it's not completely drowning out the engine itself I quite like it, much prefer a really good N/A induction bark though. Turbo's are last for noise to me.

If there was a way to mix the sound of a high compression xflow, supercharger whine, turbo stall and V8 exhaust I would have an eargasm. You're weird OP tongue out
