Hi, could you help to find the year BAU 7 was issued. It's a Nottingham number but not sure of the year? I apologise that this is not a 'spotted' post but a request...
Hi Knitware,

No problem - I'm happy to help you!

Nottingham issued BAU 7 in January, 1935.

The BAU series ran through until depletion (i.e. BAU 999) in October the same year, at which point CAU 1 etc was issued.

The CAU series lasted right through to December 1936, when it was replaced with the DAU series, which was exhausted in September 1937, followed by EAU 1 through to EAU 999, issued in August 1938.

I could go on but I hope that helps!

Out of interest, the reverse format, i.e. 7 BAU, was issued in February 1958.

Another quick question...

Where are people finding the previous sale prices of certain plates, also how are people finding out about the more historic plates i.e where and when it was first registered.

Find it all weirdly interesting and would like to learn more.
The DVLA Auction sold site and various books which I have many as does M3DGE I believe.. read
Indeed I do - 'where's it from? when was it issued'? by Woodhall & Heaton; and 'A history of motor vehicle registration in the UK' by Newall.

Here's a link to the DVLA auction history:-

http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/search/prev...

It is 'weirdly interesting'....welcome to our own very special and rather narrow geekery!

A couple of nice ones in Yateley from yesterday.

Rob in the driving seat, showing off his chav plate.
Wrong place, Should be on the 'Council' thread.
Sorry but why ?
Where do I start?

You have Rob, clearly visible in the drivers seat, lghts on, posing for a 'Look at me' type photo. Probably got it out of the garage for the occasion.

Check out the 'A Bit Council' and 'Crappy Number Plates' threads for further evidence.
Well, Rob's a cheeky git. Fancy sitting in his car! hehe

So your not supposed to sit in the driver's seat when you're driving ...

And you're supposed to disable the factory fitted DRLs ...

And you're supposed to duck if someone aims a camera at you ...

And you're not supposed to take the car out of the garage when you want to go somewhere ...

Oh yes, I get you now ... silly me

wink

I've read some rubbish logic on the other number plate thread over the years, but this really takes the biscuit. Deluded I think. hehe

Deluded from birth.
But much more rational than getting exited over a number plate.
Exited, does that mean left? hehe
