Following on from this thread http://tinyurl.com/m59ga7j where I gave the example of a millionaire property investor who owns 75 properties but dresses down to hide his wealth, I'd be interested in hearing which car can fulfil the following:

1. Must be comfortable and well specced inside for daily driving (air con, cruise control etc.) for family.
2. Must be 4x4 to be able fit in a double mattress or washing machine to transport between properties for work
3. Small enough to park in multi-storeys for family.
4. Badge and car must be extremely nondescript to leave the car on dodgy council estates.

No budget because he is a millionaire but would probably have to be 4+ years old to complete the ruse. The main thing is that no tenant or estate agent must get a look at the car and think this guy is loaded.

Volvo V70 AWD. Nobody will hate you on a council estate. People at golf clubs will think you're one of them. Royalty will think you're gentry. You can't go wrong. It mustn't be new though.

Its becoming the new MX-5 of PH. Dacia Duster.

Maybe not quite big enough, but certainly a case fof dressing down.

I quite like the way my 2013 Freelander blends into the background. All the toys and comfort. It will do off road stuff. It doesn't shout "loadsa money" and when grubby doesn't attract attention. but if you give it a wash and polish you take it anywhere posh without feeling shame

Could you get away with an old Touareg? They're pretty big, but fairly nondescript.

VW Caravelle Business edition 4motion. We have the 4motion California (camper) and its like having an SUV but without the image baggage.

The above is basically a very high spec version.

Is it a bit steep but it's high spec inside. A California isn't miles off that but at least its part house.

Old enough to be nonedescript (especially with the boggo 16" wheels rather than the bling 18's), new enough to be car thief resistant what with its electronic immobilisers etc. and yet still sumptuous as as plush thing inside.

Being a millionaire, I doubt 4.6 v8 fuel costs and bork factor will worry him too much?

Hmmmm...No...

It's here

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

No connection etc...just bought a 10 month old one (in black) for 20k...260bhp, 3.6, V6, 4x4, enormous spec, "biggest boot in class", all the toys you're after and more, 0-60 in 6.5 secs..."sounds like a Golf"...if you're into that....very rare car...really good rear sensors for multi storeys..this one has the "extremely nonedescript colour" you're after

Good Luck
