RE: Shed of the Week: Honda Legend

I really like the two door version of these.
The writer of this advert seems to have become a bit carried away listing all the car's features and extras, writing most of them twice and some of them three times. (airbags, Air Bag, Multiple Airbags). OK we get it, it has lots of stuff! He also can't decide if the colour is silver or grey metallic.
A lot of dealers do this. They list all the extras but don't tell you if it all works. I don't think extras are particularly important when you're only spending £1000. I just need to know if everything works.

"Whether we like it or not, fashion dictates much of modern life. Luckily, the seeker of Sheds has about as much interest in fashion as he does in quantum mechanics. This robust approach allows the Shedman to swoop and glide behind the used car trawler like a rabid seagull, feasting on perfectly edible denizens of the deep that have been inexplicably shunned by squeamish fashionistas."
A colleague of mine in the mid-90's had a white (!) Coupe.
At the time it was all a bit Essex. Like Ray, the owner. Think gravelly East End voice, sheepskin coat, gold jewelry.
The main thing I can remember was epic levels of roll - it must have had super-soft springs and dampers because when I was toodling round a motorway sliproad in my Cav, up ahead Ray's land yacht was at 45 degrees to horizontal with the entire contents of the interior slewing from one side of the cabin to the other and Ray holding on the (feather-lite) steering wheel from grim death.
It was like a cross between a BMW 6 Series and a 2CV. Aimed at people in Florida.

Great cars but just not special enough. I went to look at one last year and although the are really well made and very smooth they just don't punch and don't have any real character. Can't really complain for a grand but you can get as LS400 for similar money and they outclass the legend IMO.
Incredible value! The same car in Belgium is €8000!

I've got one as an old smoker, it is the facelift version of this. So has better front grill etc.
It is a superb car, very discreet and comfortable. it's big very big, almost the same size as an LS400!
The boot is huge, one of the biggest I have seen in any car, interior is great. Nice heated leather and the shape of the dash, centre console etc is very pleasing to the eye.
Has all the gadgets one could ever need, very quiet on motorways. Has dreadful fuel economy though. I see around 16 MPG or less around town.
Engine is silky smooth, not very powerful but swift enough to do the job. It is a perfect wafter and I shall be taking mine for a trip over to the continent very soon
Such an under-rated car!!

Good shed, out of interest - what would this thing be like on fuel, a big old V6 saddled with an auto box?
somewhere around 35 on the motorway if the engines been propererly maintainedNot very fuel efficient as they are heavy and old school tech. But you don't buy an old smoker barge and worry about fuel costs though!
