Aren't these a Rover 800 in drag? Or more the Rover 800 is a legend with chrome tat?
First one shared the platform, this 3rd gen one has a longitudinally mounted V6 engine and FWD. I think in the states you could get a 5 cylinder slightly smaller Legend called the Acura Vigor with a longitudinal engine and Front drive. Ed Straker said:
Much love for these - especially if you can find a coupe....
A friend had the coupe about 8 years ago, bought for a snip at auction. I loved it. I'd have owned one at some point if it weren't for the guarantee that the engine was going to toast a cylinder as it went into 6 figure mileage (they all do that, sir...)Had one of these at the start of the year. Worked perfectly as a sub £500 snotter for winter given the stupidly comfy seats and the fact that they were heated. Mine had a few niggles including the lcd for the odometer not working which is a common fault. For the money though it was amazing. I keep toying over getting another for winter but I can't bring myself to spend over £600.

Clearly not a hatch from the pics but that boot is bigger than my house.
One of my mates got into the boot of mine and we figured out based on the space still left we could easily fit 3 regular sized bodies plus a shovel etc into the boot. KimJongHealthy said:

I did that with my S2000, honest love it'll do 40mpg and the tax is cheap as chips!
I also added 4 door, decent boot, Isofix and japanese reliability. There's no better family car for 2+1! (random number to give the impression of truth)
That interior looks fine to me - everything is covered in something which doesn't LOOK like cheap plastics, there are enough buttons to indicate the essentials are there without unnecessary crubbins like cupholders and banana-retainers and whatever else manufacturers waste your money on these days - it looks sumptuous and purposeful and non-too-ostentatious.
The outside is positively stealthy in that no-one would never notice it - you could probably park on double-yellows and wardens would just pass by, children would run INTO it and wonder what happened and so on.
You'd be brave to take it on tho - 15-year-old low-supply Japanese cars probably have a few surprises in-store - there'll be "run of the mill wear and tear" bits on that with pricetags to crumple an elephant's trunk.

For once I can shout;
"I can beat that"!
Just bought a BMW 320d from a guy in Glasgow and on the drive at the rear if his house is one with nearly 130k on the clock
"You can have it for £300"
Looked round it, pretty much mint, the only thing that stopped me was I had travelled from Derbyshire in the train for his BMW and faced a 5hr drive back home, logistics made it impracticable.
So £300 versus your shed; for once I believe I've beaten you to it.
Or would have, if I'd bought it....
Bugger.

But at shed money you'd just throw it away. The outside is positively stealthy in that no-one would never notice it - you could probably park on double-yellows and wardens would just pass by, children would run INTO it and wonder what happened and so on.

Great shed.
Top barge for your low miles per annum driver like me to boat around in and for family days out. Comfy, spacious, interior and smooth V6 motoring. Granted it isn't a patch on the earlier 3.2 in terms of looks, particularly the coupe, but you can only tell that from the outside. I have an Accord Coupe V6 (T-Reg) and that just trundles along so I wouldn't fear it's age as long as it has evidence of proper servicing. Got my eye out for a facelifted one of these if/when the Accord dies. I'd factor about 20-and-a-bit mpg average
Question - Obviously an LS400 is better than this Legend, but they are (marginally) more expensive to buy. Any anoraks know if they really comparable in terms of running costs or is the LS400 actually going to empty your wallet every week?
I feel exhilarated but also slightly st scared by the prospect of an LS400 Mk4(keeps gnawing at me). This Legend doesn't..
I recall Setright liking the previous Legend (Coupe), mentioning that it had a Aircraft Aluminium floor.
As an ex LS owner, I doubt that much can compare; it's a different beast!
Superb V8, deliberate aim to make the BEST car available?
The main cost will be in maintenance parts which can be pricy.
Petrol costs irrelevant really, or you wouldn't buy one!
LS does low 30s mpg on M-Way.
