Dreadful Eighties throwback not helped by white finish, but interesting performance.

Doesn't seem very fast for that power-to-weight ratio? 0-124 seemes pretty poor particularly. There are also quite a few std FWD cars that can crack 0-60 in that time. But I love Fiat 500s, that motor in a less blingy body would be very cool.

Hideous looking thing with more dubious angles than a South African murder trial.

It is visual tat; who cares how it goes, you still have to have to park it outside your house.

The OH's Abarth 595 is pretty quick for a little un, 1.4 but great fun.
They'd have to something about the fuel tank though, the Abarth still only has a 35 litre tank which means every 200 odd miles you're filling up again!!
I had a 500 ss and it was perfectly fast enough for such a small car. The 500 SS is faster than the Punto Evo SS which is a bit embarrassing and I really do think that Fiat needs to address that. The 1.75 is an amazing engine and its a shame Abarth haven't done anything with it yet.

What annoys me is that there is no 500 evo model

With the punto you get the running gear of the abarth with the standard look

The abarth 500 in my opinion looks like a slug and loses the classic shape

Has the Renault 5 turbo found its successor?
Was thinking the same.;)

However, it's a sad sign of the times that this requires 240-odd BHP to reach 60 in 6.6 secs, whereas the GTT with a paltry 120BHP used to reach 60 in 7.2 secs.

In fact most modern hot hatches seem to require 200BHP to break the 7 second barrier.

General porkiness and an overload of unnecessary electrical doo-dads?

Short wheelbase, high centre of gravity and fwd.

About as cool as a new Beetle.

Yeah. I remember a bloke in a R5 GTT slating a bloke who had a Punto Turbo because the Punto ran more boost yet was only 10bhp more. He didn't realise that the Punto had to pass certain emission tests during that time.

Plus, the Punto was quite a heavy car.........well, the doors were smile

Like the interior (even the orange bits), like the numbers but it does look like it ram-raided Halfords.

I'm oot.
