Passion for cars can go beyond wanting to buy them or being financially capable of owning them at the time they are released.

It's ridiculous that you think the only qualifying pre-requisite for commenting on a cars looks is the disposable wealth to buy one.

I'm commenting from a design perspective. Let me know if there are any missing pre-requisite elements in my design experience that don't allow me to comment without being ridiculed.
I just can't understand why you would waste your time commenting on and analysing something that you have no interest in buying and I'm assuming are not in a position to buy.

Who is interested in this analysis? Not Porsche that's for sure as you are not the demographic that is in the market for a £150k car.

.
I can't understand why if the design analysis doesn't interest you that you waste your time telling me I'm wasting mine.

From a demographic point of view I've noted they will sell loads. It's just interesting that clearly then, after the 993/996 Turbo suited my tastes down to the ground and I've done man maths over the years to try justify one as my next car, that the 991 is off my radar by a million miles.

I'd best not mention the virtual intermediate gears that sound like they wear the clutches out in return for a lower co2 rating... just in time to be replaced by the 2nd or 3rd owners at great expense hehe

I'd best not mention that though as I'm not planning on buying one.

Oddly I think Monkey has a point with the Turbo suffering the same fate as the GTR in regards to its interior. Good quality for a Boxster/Cayman/base 911 at £50K, but triple that and you are wanting something unique.
The GTR may have unicorn blood in the sump, but they aren't cheap as the nostalgic days of the late 90's. A GTR starts at £76K now and they still have bits out of a Nissan Almera.

As for the punter who will buy it, well they are aimed at a different price market but the same sort of person.
The Pagani Hyuuuuughaaa would appeal to the same sort of person.

Though these are comparisons between the Corvette C7 and the GTR and cooking911, I think it possibly explains the issue with the GTR:

Bits from lesser models is nothing new- Astons had many Ford bits in their interiors.I'm sure there are many others.

Except now the Aston has a unique interior but the outside looks like a ford fiesta.

Finally, I find most women are not attracted to any of these cars in the slightest. Only when they see you in a Morris Minor, Triumph Herald or Mini Countryman (wood bits) do they become truly excited.....
True to some degree. Most will accuse blokes of being deficient in the trouser department and having a mid-lifer but if offered a go in the passenger seat will generally change their tune significantly.

I once had a Corvette C4 and my girlfriend was embarrassed by it.
On the other hand, my wife loved my Z28 and Corvette and doesn't mind the Mustang but still preferred the Z28 (only one she ever drove...).
Women will only be attracted in cars they buy themselves- Minis, Citroen DS3, Mazda mx5,Merc CLC ,SLK
Of the exotic stuff it will probably be an Audi R8 judging by large number of female celeb owners
As for woman pulling Porsche-then save thousands and get a Boxster.
I really dont think ladies are that fussed, as long as it doesnt smell, leak, is clean, break down, embarass them and looks reasonably presentable.

Coincidentally, the exact criteria they would inevitably use in selecting the perfect man.......

That's why they say the perfect man, not unlike the perfect car, is becoming increasingly hard to find....

"But where its predecessor had all the personality of Ed Miliband this car has some soul. It makes intake noise, the exhaust crackles on the overrun in Sport Plus mode"

The fact that you've mention 'Sport plus mode' in the very next sentence makes me doubt this car has any "soul".

It sounds like Porsche removed the driver from the equation, and then they decide just how much involvement you're allowed.

I love cars, and 911s have been among my favourites, but they're getting worse, not better. Faster maybe, but definitely worse.
