Re: Charles Morgan fights back
Discussion
As a fan of the company and a genuine potential client, I must say I find this most disturbing.
It is not just the apparent removal of Charles Morgan - after all, there may be perfectly good reasons although I have to say the company has been performing pretty well.
Just as unsettling for me is the sheer, hamfisted, bungling incompetence of the board in handling this affair. If they are this useless at a simple corporate communications and PR affair, this easily wrong-footed and gaffe-prone, I have to say I have little confidence in them steering a global business successfully...

Think we should avoid speculating until we have some actual facts.
Ah, but uninformed speculation (US) is the oxygen of online forums. So here goes:Think we should avoid speculating until we have some actual facts.
- Mr Morgan has grown the Morgan brand (fact).
- He is now sitting on a small fortune (maybe, but in the true spirit of US posts I can't be bothered to make even a cursory check).
- His vision of the future is to Aston-ise the Morgan brand, but developing new cars takes a large fortune.
- He plans to take the small fortune and leverage a large fortune (via parties unknown, but FilthyRichOilBank Inc* will do for a placeholder), securing it with MMC lock, stock and two smoking side-exit pipes.
- The MMC 2.0 business plan projects sales volumes in excess of 5000pa.
- The family is appalled at such a high risk strategy (which, even if successful would utterly change the Morgan brand+), cries of desist have been ignored and their only exit strategy is to exit Mr Morgan.
+ {The post regarding Pagini is fitting.}
All utter speculation. Chilli was served for lunch.

There's got to be more to this than meets the eye. I've heard he was more interested in the social side of his job and that certain elements of the Morgan infrastructure were less than impressed with him.
That wouldn't surprise me, from what I've seen he seemed liek a chap who liked to chat. The thing is many firms spend huge sums of money looking for and fettling a brand ambassador which often never works (Se Lotus and Swiss cheese or whatever his name was). Charles embodied Morgan in every fibre of his being and I think THAT is why the fans, owners and workers feel so upset, to many he IS Morgan cars.Is this the start of another truly historic British motoring marque going down the road of corporate financial gain only orientated sales, not even realising what a great British success story Morgan is. If the chassis start being made from Alu/Carbon, you know there's a tree on a bend with Morgan's name on it

Or... (if we're truly making things up and you're not dressing up insider knowledge as speculation)..- Charles Morgan successfully turns the company round after a decade or more in the doldrums
- Morgan is now a 'prestige brand' rather than just a classic motor company
- Sister and her husband have received a substantial foreign offer for the whole company and want to sell up.
- CM wants to stay put and keep the company in the family.

My 3 wheeler enters production next month and I am a little concerned how this will pan out.
Lol. You've got to be kidding? A post I made to the other thread on this topic (which existed long before the PH article)

I'm sure CM's upset. He definitely won't need a drop in salary to hang on to this little beauty of a Russian model/ actress. http://www.kieramorgan.com/

"October 18 2013 - Statement from Charles Morgan
As has been widely reported, I have been asked to leave the Morgan Motor Company by the board. It is a sad decision that I am appealing; I remain a major shareholder in Morgan.
I’m proud to say I leave with the company’s annual production volumes double what they were at the start of my tenure, with new export markets such as China opened to the company. Morgan remains a small but successful family firm.
I’d like to be clear that I am not a tycoon but a family man – I inherited a company not wealth – and unexpectedly leaving its employment will be a hardship for myself and my family. Being asked to leave the company that bears my name is also extremely personally distressing. That is made more painful as today marks 10 years since my father, Peter Morgan, died and I feel him in spirit with me in this dispute.
However my primary concern is completely for the company I have spent 30 years helping to build, and specifically for Morgan’s employees, who I hold in the highest regard. I want nothing but success for Morgan Motor Company in the future and remain committed to this goal.
I am very grateful for the expressions of support received on twitter and elsewhere, particularly from the employees of Morgan.
I will be making no further statements for the time being.
