Quote from Autocar
"A board meeting convened while Charles Morgan was on sick leave concluded that he had posed as chairman despite being demoted to strategy director in February; supported Oak Racing and the Nissan-engined Morgan 2012 LMP2 car at Le Mans and in the LMP series without approval; announced to a small group of Morgan owners that an improved version of the Morgan 3 Wheeler was to be launched and that he took two payments for talks about his time with ITN in Afghanistan and Iran without seeking board approval.
According to the document seen by Autocar, the decision was made by the membership of the board of Morgan Technologies: Steven Morris (Morgan's managing Director), Timothy Whitworth (Morgan's finance director), Gillian Price (Charles's sister), David Price (Charles's brother-in-law), Laurence Price (Charles's nephew), Craig Hamilton Smith (Charles's nephew), Jackie Pertwee (Charles's niece) and Andrew Duncan (the Morgan family solicitor).
Charles Morgan has already signalled his intent to appeal the decision, denying the accusations of misconduct."
Yep, still sounds very messy......................
So basically acting as if he owned the company in its entirety."A board meeting convened while Charles Morgan was on sick leave concluded that he had posed as chairman despite being demoted to strategy director in February; supported Oak Racing and the Nissan-engined Morgan 2012 LMP2 car at Le Mans and in the LMP series without approval; announced to a small group of Morgan owners that an improved version of the Morgan 3 Wheeler was to be launched and that he took two payments for talks about his time with ITN in Afghanistan and Iran without seeking board approval.

I'd be amazed if all the items weren't true as stated; all seems pretty black and white.
** Holding yourself out to be Chairman when you aren't is a bit stupid - it's a matter of public record.
** Committing the company to unauthorised spending is a definite no-no.
** Announcing to a group of enthusiasts that a new improved car is to be launched doesn't seem to be a sackable offence, but if he made misleading statements that hurt existing sales ("don't buy the current one, the new one's much better etc) you can see the potential harm
** Taking payments for outside work - this alone could be enough to get him fired if they have a clause in the contract requiring approval prior to taking payment
Overall, and to quote a previous poster, his goose is cooked.
I'm sure the issues noted are just the tip of the iceberg and the rest of the Board are utterly frustrated about his inability to knuckle down to the job he was paid to do. Either way, he's an idiot; not only is he departing a job which was (if he'd played his cards right) a job for life, he's stting on his own doorstep (never a good idea) and making himself unemployable anywhere else (an even less good idea).
Morgan MC: Current Problems - all highly lamentable; from PH contributions there’s a great range from the ‘highly speculative’ to ‘the involved’, where the latter (relatively speaking) appear to be limited in number and not especially captious, i.e. measured rather than ‘reckless’.
CM appears to have earned the respect of ‘shop floor’ craftsmen, i.e. from views that are apparent as such, from PH-posts. None of us are perfect; many have “mid-life crises” (even in a well-run family-run business) and, whereas if one is “on the receiving end” it may be hard-to-bear the unfavourable ‘fallout’ arising, there have been lots of compensatory experiences benefitting both workforce and customers alike, via otherwise long-term security of direct employment and product-enjoyment, respectively.
If long-term Morgan enthusiasts ever determine the actual truth, let’s hope that (learning to expect the unexpected being always generally a sagacious) it does not produce any awful surprises. After all, it is a privately run concern that has always met (not just served) the interests of like-minded enthusiasts, for longer than any other car company in this country’s history, through 'thick' & 'thin' - and it is unlikely to get any 'thinner' withot expiration. One should never overlook that, like the marque, there will always be aspects that can be adversely criticised, so too there is always far more that is [however ineffably] ‘right’ and it must therefore literally be a classic case [no pun intended because Morgan is veteran, not just vintage] of ensuring that the metaphorical ‘baby’ should not be thrown-out with its ‘bath water’. To reiterate, it is a family company and the marque’s name is "Morgan", not "Poltergeist" or "Sausages" or even "Morris", or "Whitworth", or "Price", or "Hamilton Smith" or "Pertwee" or even "Duncan" - intangible assets, whether or not a century old, are just that: QED...

Are you suggesting that his sister and her husband, who control about 60% of the company, should have no say simply because their name isn't "Morgan"?It never seemed to bother the Norfolk manufacturer very much that the company was called "Lotus" and not "Chapman".

My I offer you a bit of old man's wisdom. There are only two business problems in a private company..not four. One is too much money and the other is not enough. Tales of anything else are rubbish.
By the way, if there is an urgent Hearing already fixed for Friday, then it is very possible that the documents outlining Mr. Morgan's version of events have already been filed.
"old man's wisdom", don't assume that I am in the first flush of youth, because I'm not. With respect please read posts properly as I did not say anything about 'four' problems in business. I did however say that there were four main charges levelled against CM by the board, which today have become public.By the way, if there is an urgent Hearing already fixed for Friday, then it is very possible that the documents outlining Mr. Morgan's version of events have already been filed.

She's not a Morgan because she had the temerity to get married and take her husband's name? Have we slipped through a wormhole back to the stone age; what neanderthal nonsense is this?
Please, one day, have a go at thinking before you start typing....lfsv8 said:
