To my eyes the centre console is plain nasty. Another pretty Aston ruined by an outdated interior.

Can't tell this apart from any others in the range - Astons - they all look the same. wink

Gearbox manufacturer is struggling to keep up with worldwide demand for the 8 speed box - they don't need another manufacturer which has a history of not paying them on time.

the colour doesn't help at all, don't mind the look in regulation black, but really not fond of that interior.

so, someone else copies them, so they need to try harder. In the US there's a load of those Mondeo's (can't remember their name over there), and at the slightest glance it's clear it's not an Aston. Yes, of course the grill etc is similar, but in the real world there's no confusion.

I got stuck in traffic on my usual commute today and I had 3 different people taking photos of the car whilst stationary for a couple of minutes (not really the attention I like hence why I drive a dark grey generic Aston, not something more shouty, but to make my point...), so it seems plenty of people can get over the samey looks.

I don't think Aston's need to change the way they look, especially because someone else copies them. As car lovers shouldn't we be critical of Ford for copying rather than Aston for being copied.
I'm being critical because Aston has produced the same (looking) car from the DB9 onwards. As nice as they are, the moment I mistook the front of a fiesta in a car park from one (its nose was pointing out) ruined much of the enjoyment for me.

I'm not saying I wouldn't have one, but the samey looks are a serious turn-off now - worse since ford adopted them, I'd be buying on other merits.

Outdated? I can't stand the colour here, but that centre console is anything but outdated. Apart from the rotary controls, those black areas are touch-sensitive glass that gives feedback as the controls are activated.

The interior IMO is one of the strong points.

The centre consul is very fresh indeed. Certainly not outdated. It reminds me of something from the last Tron movie - although not covered in pink leather !

What confuses me about Bez is that he managed to get a decent flow of middle east oil money and yet he didn't do much with it.

These cars are just plain too heavy. The writing is on the wall and Mclaren knew it, take out the weight using new cheaper forms of injection molded Carbon Fiber- it allows low weight, much more room in the cabin- losing the truly hideous center console.

Aston needed and still needs carbon fiber technology to keep up. I think Bez needs to head back to the Emirates (UAE) or is that Qatar? and make a convincing business plan to those rich men. Something along the lines of 'we can be the luxury division of Mclaren'. I can't see them doing well or even surviving without going to Carbon. martin

£200k seems a tad strong. Where did that come from? £100 per kilo?

When are Aston going to make a new car? All their models look identical and have done since the db7. When Fords Fiesta can look the same as the Aston range, you'd think Aston would buck up and design something new, and much less safe in the style department.

Great car, but I wish music would be banned from all car video's, this is PistonHeads, not MusicHeads, if the car can't speak for itself then it should not be filmed for PistonHeads,

I'm probably in a minority here but I think the 'revised' shape works better as a coupe than in the volante. Most convertibles work better with a wedge shape when the roof is down (Boxster being the only one that doesn't). In this, the rear tapers down too much and it just looks odd in the photos.

I know the original DB9 wobbled like a jelly but it looked magnificent.

Just what you need for posing.

Never really liked the steering wheel on these, too plain for such a lovely car.

Vagina coloured interiors. Coming soon to the garage of someone who has more money than taste...

Exclusively (I cant imagine why) from Aston Martin...
Firstly, what have you got against vaginas?

Secondly, any woman with a vagina that colour should seriously consider a visit to the doctors.

But agree that the colour is lurid and not nice for an Aston (just IMO).

With respect to the shape. Seems that they started with a really lovely, classic shape (DB9) but ever since they have been tweaking it, presumably because they need to make it appear that each evolution is newer and better, but in my eyes the more than tweak the less attractive it becomes.

Agree with above note on original design.

That's why I prefer my 'first generation' DB9 to the current line up. No spoilers or other aero stuff to spoil the pure line of the best looking car ever made... ;-)
