Considering how deep in debt Japan has been over last few years it be amazing if they made another WRX even if its rehashed old designs and trim.

Why even bother with the concept if the finished car is going to look so far removed?

Is the new WRX even coming to GB?
Subaru stopped importing the Impreza recently citing EU fuel emissions.
Personally, I like Scooby Q cars. We have a bog standard WRX hatch that looks like an Astra but drives like stink!

I really hope this is a bad joke. The concept looked fantastic, to the point of me planning car swaps to coincide when it became available.

And now... this? It seems like a bad joke, and I'm waiting for the punchline, hoping it'll be brilliant. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

lol.

Ah c`mon pal, lighten up don`t be so serious, it`s only the internet.

Does it matter what I`ve commented on where I live or what car I do or don`t own?

Anyway, that Subaru looks terible but I`d rather been seen in that than a tarted up Focus wink

Curve of the bonnet line and low 'face' is reminiscent of the 3 series. And that is not a good thing.
That is a symptom of the need to meet pedestrrian crash-test standards. Big, bluff fronts with low grilles.

Yes, that's true but other marques manage to avoid it looking quite so bad. Audi A4, Jag XK, 2014 Mondeo etc. All much sleeker.

Anyhow, as I said let's hope it drives better than it looks!

Subaru simply do not have a clue. If it wasn't for Toyota's convincing and cajoling, there would be no BRZ.

May as well keep this new WRX/STI as JDM only (with the right engine). The people who really want it will import it.
why didnt they just make that? It looked spot on IMO.
Agreed.. that concept looked utterly stunning in my book.
It looked ok, a bit blingy and certainly didn't really look like a production car. So it's no real shocker that it isn't.

I dont think so - if you'd stuck an M3 badge on the back it would probably have made production as is.

That's confirmation that Subaru are the new Lancia. I know Imprezas were never lookers but as someone else said, it was all about having looks that reflected the car's character. This looks duller than a Bargain Hunt episode.
You've posted an Integrale. This is a more typical old Lancia Delta:

Hardly the most exciting looking of cars.

I quite like the 'Chrysler' Delta. I think the marketing for it has been dreadful though.

Fair point. There isn't really a hot version of the current delta. I guess what I was trying to get at was in the same way Lancia have stopped making attractive looking cars, so have Subaru.

In 1994 Subaru launched the Turbo 2000 in the UK, the spec is as follows:
214bhp
0-60:6.1
Top Speed: 144mph
Weight:1235kg
MPG:28

In 2008 they launched the latest Subaru hatch with the following spec:
226bhp
0-60:6.3
Top Speed: 130mph (figure seems wrong but is only one I can find)
Weight:1395kg
MPG:27

So the 15yrs newer model is slower and worse on fuel.

With my very basic understanding of car development this is why I think the Impreza is almost dead in the UK.

Waste of time design. Looks like 10000s of other cars... Why did they even bother?

What a shame. I was expecting great things for this car. Looks like a Toyota "Pious" now...

That concept looks awesome... as do most. The picture in the article looks like some standard European blob

Take the scoop off the car and it could be anything !

Personally, I'd argue that neither the Delta nor the Impreza have ever been remotely attractive looking. hehe

Not quite fair, and even the one above is an HF Turbo. This is a bog basic original Delta:

You can't compare a normal hatch to a 'grale.

And the new car is a pleasant enough piece of transport if the 2 weeks I had one on hire in Italy is anything to go by.

I think the point of the matter is it's not ugly enough.

For the '70s, the Delta was a very attractive little car. Much like the similarly Giugaro styled Mk1 Golf. Remember, this was the era of the Allegro and Marina!
