Er, the Bloodhound bank account is empty. So I'm waiting for the massive PR exercise to kick off, to top it up. Seems awfully quiet though!! How about that new TG chappie for a start?
It's almost like we need sometime PH contributor who by a stroke a luck is now involved with a motoring show with a huge audience scratchchin

If anyone choses to set up a gofundme account for this be aware that it can be a nightmare banking wise!
When you set it up you have to provide your personal bank details, and as soon as donations start coming in it triggers a 7 day rolling deposit system run by Stripe.
So what is donated on day 1 will appear in your account on day 8, donations from day 2 appear on day 9 etc.
There is no way around this!
I did a campaign that ended up raising over £20k and was hugely successful, but it caused utter chaos to my bank account!
Any thoughts on a better system? I'm guessing that gofundme would be bad anyway as if I set it up I'd be the benefactor? Is anyone here from Bloodhound SSC that can set it up using the projects account?

If I don't set something up but SSC do then I'm more than happy to stick a flyer out on things like linked in, etc. (plus contribute of course!).

Anyone thinking of setting up crowdfunding of behalf of Bloodhound SSC had better have a good think about it. I would be extremely surprised if it lasted long before the Bloodhound SSC team have it closed. For all they know someone is to fraudulently make some money using the Bloodhound SSC name.

If people want to donate they can on this page http://www.bloodhoundssc.com/support-us I don't see the point of starting up a crowdfunding page if people can donate any amount of money they want using that link.

I think the bigger issue the silence, it's deafening!
After so much hard work why has is there no drive to raise money if it is needed? Even a post on the Facebook page or whatever to try and generate some donations has to be a no brainer surely

Because due to the amount I assume is needed they won't get that via the public. The money will come in the form of sponsors, of which I'm sure the team at Bloodhound SSC are doing the best they can to get more of.

It was the same back in Donald Campbell's day. Even when he was on the track ready to go, poor weather held him back for months. These things don't happen over night. Patience...

I know I keep going back to it, but the Vulcan needed millions, and the public dug deep biggrin

Well I've just donated again.

Loved seeing it come together on here thanks to people like IN51GHTs posts. Can't wait to see it running and any little I can offer will hopefully make a small difference.

Bit different showing videos of skilled British engineers crying next to their immensely fast one trick pony compared to children starving or homeless refugees...

Not belittling BH SSC at all, but it's not something that'll pull on heartstrings.

It was the "don't under estimate the willingness of people to support a cause that they believe in" part that I was trying to highlight.

I keep in touch with Chris after he did the rather good You Tube video on Bloodhound, I have suggested it....

Think of the team members, many of whom have been living off their savings for 6-8months now.
you mean to say that wages are not being paid? seriously?

very poor show and i would imagine the sponsors would not exactly be pleased if that got out. perfect advert for modern britain though. amazing engineering, world firsts, highly motivated staff, and no money.

In order to make sure the manufacturing costs are still met. Non of us are surprised, we were all told straight how it is.

Am about halfway through reading, Thrust.

Really interesting stuff and had made me look again at this thread and your website.
Fantastic project. Lots of highs and lows over the years. This is a low, but you've been here before and come out of successful.
I have no doubt you'll do it again.

I'm in the same boat, no idea at the moment what's going on.

I'm off the project until such time that cash rolls in again, passion for a project I'm afraid does not pay the bills.

I can lend you a couple of spare welders and a few old hammers? hehe

Failing that, if you can 'borrow' the rocket motor, I have a wheelie bin, a crash helmet, and good life insurance.

A post on facebook or two costs nothing, and could well go towards generating a few million if the public get behind it.
However, not asking at all gets you exactly nothing!
