In51ght,

I have been sitting around thinking about the state of the project...and pondering some "what ifs". Considering that the Government would be reluctant to loan the jet engines to anyone outside of the UK, and that no other engines would fit the upper chassis......this creates a huge problem for teams around the globe who possibly would be interested in purchasing the car.

My "what if" questions to you are these.....Could the car be converted to ALL rocket propulsion? Is there enough room in the lower chassis for pressurized fuel tanks, and a large rocket in the upper chassis? The jet intake would need to be changed, possibly replaced with a "nose cone" of sorts......not sure what that would do to the aero package..... Also, changes such as these would surely make the weight distribution more difficult to manage.

Just kicking the tires here,.....would love to hear your thoughts on this

It possibly could, but would be a massive compromise. You have to do something about the jet intake too.

I guess the 25 million ‘headline’ figure is subject to eating by inflation as well. So the figure is actually quite ‘fluid’. In a p1$$ed moment last night, I had a mad idea. De- mothball SSC, build in a couple of carefully measured SRBs, one for the out, and one for the back ( reducing the complexity), and go for it. We know SSC can get to supersonic without exploding, and Andy Green has got balls the size of steintökin. Why not?
I seem to recall that Thrust SSC was literallly falling apart towards the end of its runs - endless rivets being replaced and it generally taking a beating. I suspect it wouldn't survive further abuse.

Nice idea though - it looks a better car than Bloodhound and has proven itself at nearly four times Bloodhound’s peak speed!

If you've not, have a look at aussie invader. He's gone with a pure rocket design and circumvented the difficulty in throttling a rocket just by making it heavier so that the g-force from a standstill is tolerable. I would love both Bloodhound and Aussie Invader to have the opportunity to give it a proper go.

Ian Warhurst has just sold his turbocharger company to a US business so guessing that freed up some cash? https://www.insidermedia.com/insider/yorkshire/tur...

Interesting development - didn't see that one coming! Does that mean new management? The problems of lack of public interest and lack of relevance to modern technology will still exist, but if Richard Noble makes way for someone with a bit more presence and drive behind him, something could happen...

It does depend on what ‘saved’ means? Saved the project and hass bankrolled it to fulfill its ambition, or just bought all the assets at knockdown price?

I saw Thrust SSC a few years ago, I was amazed at how knackered it looked.

Great news on the project overall.

One day this is going to make a brilliant film.

One question to ask then? Who to play INSIGHT? I'd say the Rock.

From what I've read on this forum, he'd be a fool not too. Mark is absolutely amazing. Unbelievable levels of inside knowledge which he has been more than happy to share with the public. Without him, it's hard to see how the Bloodhound Project would even have progressed as far as it did!

I've just heard the good news on the BBC news website..

Better than all the earlier very negative posts on here.

Lets hope the new guy in change and take stock of the project and help to refocus it in the near future.

Ditching the educational nonsense would be a good start!

I hope the new owners see this as a chance to hit the reset button properly.

There are(have been) a lot of good people on the project, but it's also built up a lot of dead wood & hangers on. Hopefully they take a good look at the project & restructure as appropriate.
