I’ve just watched the latest video on YouTube and I noticed Richard Noble in it, so it seems he’s still heavily involved.
No, he wasn't there that I'm aware of.

You haven’t watched the latest video then. I wonder if Ron Ayers will go to South Africa for the 800mph attempt?

Haven't I. If you are talking of the dude at 3:12, that's not Noble.

Ron was present for some, if not all of these tests.

The kudos of having your bearings on a car that does 1000km/h and hopefully 1000mph will make the costs of ensuring all is well seem peanuts.
I used to work for the organisation did the testing on Thrust SSC's engines, I believe they only put their name on the car after the successful runs as they didn't want to be associated with it if it went wrong.

I agree. It looks a bit like Noble at first, but zoom in on a 1080p resolution and it's clearly not.

I’ve just found a recent picture of Richard and have to agree that it’s not him. It’s good to hear that Ron was present for the tests. I wasn’t sure if he would be due to his age.

Does anyone know if the redesign and build of bloodhound's rear end to accommodate 3 rockets is still needed for the 1000 mph attempt?
Not sure but personally I hope they can get away with one big one.
The Bloodhound LSR team are focussed on setting a new Land Speed Record - which can be achieved using a single monopropellant rocket.

Richard sent his best wishes, but he wasn't here for the tests. Ron was out for the early part of the session and on the phone for daily updates.

anybody that's seen Thrust SSC at Cov or since the record will see the state of the thing, no way that was doing another trip.
Saw the old girl at RAF Waddington airshow in 1997 or 98 (can't remember the exact year) but agree, she was worn out.

fantastic achievement of the bloodhound crew almost breaking the record on test days!
IMHO Bloodhound will go faster than 1000mph when they fit the rocket.

Our target is to 'just' set a new world land speed record. If we reach 1,000mph with a single monopropellant rocket, someone has got their maths very wrong!

I’ve got to say seeing that has kind of taken the purpose out of the project for me. I get that the previous owners mission was to reach or exceed 1,000mph and I’ve noticed no reference from the current owners. If not reaching for 1,000mph What do sponsors achieve from the project?

So is the 1000mph target completely out of the window, or just dependent on some serious sponsorship to enable the multi-rocket setup?

In fact it will almost certainly have just a single nozzle.

The project is split into two phases; phase one is a new LSR. At which point, we'll review the technology, engineering and finances needed to tackle phase two - 1000mph.

Shame, although you would have to add "Not chained to post?" to the pre-run checklist biggrin

Prefer the term "pre run checklist" "launch" suggest it may go airborne, which would be sub optimal.

I recall 800 mph being talked about during testing? What Is the power source for the HTP tank?

Apart from nowhere to put the fuel (though a landspeed record car doesn't need huge fuel tanks anyway) and that keel at the top which would presumably cause instability in crosswinds. How poor a design would that be?

Nope, no need for much fuel.......around 1300litres per run that's all.
