Autocar also didn't use launch control for the 911 vs f12 race , and even then the 911 was quicker off the line , bearing in mind the horsepower advantage of the 12c , i think it would make a massive difference , as after all the turbo s is quoted as 2.8 to 60mph , much quicker than the 3.2 chris quoted. i think its fair to say the 911 wasn't launched as well as it could be
Ok, let's assume launch control wasn't used in the video. Which car is more likely to have been disadvantaged by that? The 2-wheel drive 12C or the 4-wheel drive 911?toppstuff said:
It's gonna be worse. Much worse.
No one really digs the Tts. Everyone wants a GT3. Porsche dealers will laugh at you when you try to sell.
It's always been this way with the Turbo. Plenty of turbos available from stock around the network already.
Hey, but it's only money.

Mate, they are both in max attack mode and the slowest Mac is just faster than the fastest Porsche (Until the 918 arrives) it really is.Did you not just watch it ??
The Turbo is a fine car but its not as quick as the 12C. And yes, the 12C costs a lot more but the Turbo is a lot of money for a car that looks not entirely unlike a £45k Boxster. And I say that as a lover of all things 911.
don't flow your reasoning....CH is in the Mac, no inside pics of the TTS on take off, launch control requires a procedure. Sport plus ect...do not see this engaged, from the way the tts takes off I would say that it is not.....,as for saying that a 991tts looks like a 45k boxster.....each to there own....ill ask for my 100k back when I pk up my second one next month. IMV the tts is good value..... The Turbo is a fine car but its not as quick as the 12C. Whereas the 12C is and looks like an exotic supercar which shares parts only with a near 900k Hypercar.
The Turbo remains rather unloved in the Porsche firmament and its residuals will show that this time around just as it has in the past.
God, what has it come to when 0-60 in three something is a bit meh and we want to hear two something.
These things are both so fast for road use it makes no odds, same with a GTR, the Nismo one does sixty in 2.5 seconds, wonder how long before
something goes under two seconds, I still remember hearing as a kid about Will Gollops 6R4 doing it in 1.9 seconds and having to rewind the video to check
that is what I heard, now stock, road cars are not far off, back then under ten seconds was impressive and only super cars did under 6.
Surely straight line performance has been conquered as much as it ever needs to be, does anyone have one of these cars and actually think its not quick enough ? one of my lads friends mums has a McLaren, or rather her husband does and she reckons its actually uncomfortable being accelerated like that.

You think that an average John or Julie with only a passing interest in cars could tell what was in their mirror of the two, Boxster or 991 Turbo? I think not and there's lots and lots of shared bits. By that measure the Turbo is very expensive indeed.

the whole point of the turbo , is that it is understated, but with super car performance , I'm sure the novelty of having people taking photos of your car and worrying about leaving it in a car park wears off after owning an "exotic" for a number of years , the turbo appeals to people who want the super car thrills without the super car attention , i imagineWhereas the 12C is and looks like an exotic supercar which shares parts only with a near 900k Hypercar.

Chris Great Vid,
Why did you not use launch control on both cars. Also was the TTS in sport plus mode, missive diff not just in torque but throttle map....I have done this test and if all the tts assets are used, its faster to 120.....Along with the 12C-SP as tested in that Colour is listed at 243k if it has CCBDs, the TTS as tested is 142k.....100k Diff......
The excuses begin...Why did you not use launch control on both cars. I'm afraid Mr Harris, your time as a motoring journalist is at an end, for you have contradicted the man who is beyond reproach and is most respected poster in the history of PH and perhaps the Internet.
APOLO1 is never wrong.
