I am pretty sure you can spec the car without the essay on the back.
Or get the hair dryer and dented floss out. I'd love if I was loaded but I'd buy mp4 first and an Aston and an f12 and a Lamborghini but then I'd have one. In blue please.

I'd have the Mclaren and Aston first, but I'll pass on the Italians, thanks smile

The Turbo S is an insanely fast car, but for that price, I'm expecting carbon fibre parts, tub, etc. The 12C which has a lot more power, also is much lighter, which shows how much Porsche are not doing to make their car lighter. Yes, I know the Germans put thicker paint, sturdier parts, and have better reliability, back seats, etc. But honestly,I'd have the GT3 over this guaranteed, for the much lower price, engine noise/excitement, and easier track performance.

I was lucky enough to blast one of these around a track in Las Vegas for a few laps. It was obviously very fast at both going and slowing, but felt a bit uninvolving. Anyone, including your old mum, can drive this car insanely quickly. There is no challenge. Some will like that in a fast car but I don't.

Are you including the 80's 930 in that rather sweeping statement?

Sorry buddy, but the GTR is the new messiah. And I'd rather have any GTR, both new, or second hand.

80s 930, ...when viewed along side the 80s cars that were around at the time...yes I am.

The 930T was in the Guinness record book for a long time, as the worlds fastest accelerating car......you know, I used to have a 84 Blk, blk, 4 speed, 100mph in 2nd gear....

Turbo was £90,520 in 2004. Turbo S was £99,300

Why do people keep banging on about the GT3 when that car is completely different in philosophy to the Turbo? Do they just not get it? The Turbo has been the range topper since its intro in 77. It's always been a bit heavier, more luxurious and just faster than its more track focused variants. It was never intended to be a scalpel of a driving machine. Just a stupidly fast car with all the trimmings. A continent eater. It was never designed to do track work but the fact that it can is a measure of the competence of Porsche's engineers.

Compare it to the Macca 12C, the GTR or Aston whatever but your wasting arguments when comparing philosophies.

If you say so. Each to their own in the end. My comment was more about the 991 Turbo compared with the 997. I'm happy to ignore the GTR completely.

I couldn't buy one considering the price of the GT3, but the Turbo S is better than the previous gen at everything. A fantastic car and i was very impressed - both more fun and engaging whilst a MUCH better daily too.

actually handling wise the Turbo s is not that far from a gt3.....it drives and feels like a GT2, as in 2 wheel drive

Nah the GTR is a pig uly car and the interior is bloody awful. By comparison the interior of the new 991 is a piece of automotive jewellery!

Comparing the big Datsun to the Porsche isn't comparing apples for apples. One is like a cheap Gola trainer whilst the other is one of the finest hand stiched leather shoes that money can buy.

Sure someone is going to tell me that the Datsun is 0.2 seconds quicker to 60 etc... I'd still have the turbo every time if the numbers come up tonight.

Plus the local petty drug dealer where I live owns a GTR. Nuff said!

Yeah but you've also said you'd rather have an Impreza than a 991 Carrera S and everyone on that thread thought you were a spastic, too.

Don't call it a Datsun. It makes you sound like a prick.
