Winter tyres vol 2
Discussion
I’ve lived in Norway getting on 15 years now, had to replace all four on our two cars this Winter so didn’t want to stretch to full Contis for the sake of my wallet. Went for Falken and honestly they’re as good. Mrs has a FWD EV which torque steers and squirms for fun if you’re lead footed. Falkens don’t send it towards the ditch.
I *think* Porsche use Falken for their SUVs in Norway when new, don’t quote me on that though.
Big test is how long they last, three seasons would be a treat.

Cross climate 2, end of thread.
I asked a question pages back about whether to go for these, to replace the Dunlop Winter 3Ds that were end of life. Decided they fitted the bill down here in the South East, and picked up my refurbished winter wheel set with spangley new CC2s fitted They'll probably go on the car over the weekend - temperatures hovering around the tipping point between summer and winter, and given these are all season anyway they'll be fine.
I'm usually not keen on darker coloured wheels, but wanted something closer to the colour of winter themed brake dust, so they don't look as mucky if I don't wash them for weeks, so went for anthracite. Glad I did when I picked them up - will be interesting to see how they look on the car (which is black)

I can't see how temperatures are hovering for you in the SE... it's consistently around 4°C in SW London and winters are most certainly ON!
I don’t drive every day - was 8.5c yesterday when I went out. It’s taken 2 weeks for the wheels to be refurbished and tyres delivered. Comment was more how it’s clearly cold enough at each end of the day, but daytime temperature is still fluctuating around the 7c marker, so depends when you’re driving reallyRecently fitted the Michelin Cross Climate 2's to my Avensis (2007, 2.0 petrol auto). Probably cost around a 1/3 of the total value of the car but think any decent tyres are worth it...
Have had winter tyres on previous cars so this time around stuck with the all-season option. Will hopefully keep me out of trouble :-)

I got a set of 18" Style 234s and had my pal refurb them and fit/balance the tyres; I went with Nexen Winguard Sport 2s. I wanted to go with Avon WV7s again like I had on my previous touring but couldn't get them in the sizes I needed (can now; they just weren't available when I was looking to purchase).
Impressed with them so far; more so as we're getting colder/wetter weather now. Quiet, very grippy and have made the 7'er very smooth to drive
I have the same tyres on my 5 series, worked really well last winter and put them back on last week. Son has them as well on his 325i. With 4 RWD cars in the house and nothing else, winters felt neccessary.Impressed with them so far; more so as we're getting colder/wetter weather now. Recently fitted them to our 5-series as well. I like them so far for typical autumn conditions but might get a chance to test them on snow today/tomorrow. Really interested to see how they are vs. last years somewhat aged good year winters. Have had winter tyres on previous cars so this time around stuck with the all-season option. I have recently fitted Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO all-season tyres on my wife car and I am very impressed, the level of grip they are delivering on cold, damp, muddy Perthshire roads is quite remarkable, I certainly prefer them to the Michelin Cross Climates that I had on the car before.

See how you feel about them after 10,000 miles!QuartzDad said:

Quite agree. Could mandate it via insurance or base on region.
I used to run an A6 quattro with good tyres and the only issue getting around was other drivers wheel spinning their 3 series on a 5% gradient hill.
I've just got an A4 avant quattro 3.0tdi and now need to choose some tyres...

I put my 17" winters on my 3 Series this week and expect to be held up by people with 4WD cars running 19/20" low profile summer tyres learning that 4WD doesn't help when they need to turn a corner or stop!

See how you feel about them after 10,000 miles!Just getting her second set fitted today.
She’s never complained about them and when the first set was fitted she was very happy as the car felt more stable in cold mornings than on the Dunlops it had before.
I’m having some Pirelli scorpion verde all seasons fitted to the Freelander 2 as well.
They were already on the car when I bought it and have been a good tyre for my needs so just fitting them again.
