My name is Ben, and if I was given the choice between a brand new M135i and a 'classic' 900 T16 S.......

I'd take the Saab

I sold a mk2 MX5 - Bought a Honda Civic drove for 3weeks - Sold it - Bought a Mazda MX5 mk3 and lost £1000 due to dealing with trade prices.

Quite. I had Vladimir down as one of the "waffling goons" as he puts it in his post.

I can't make up my mind if he is a troll (although admittedly quite subtle), a hypocrite, or just not the full shilling.

Oh, and by the way, I agree with the OP, just not too sure about its sincerity.
+1

My first thought too RE: O/P.

As for real enthusiasts, there are quite a lot of us around, you may just need to look a bit more deeply. We don't all shout about what we own telling anyone that may listen. I spend more of my time in the marque specific sections. Friendly, light hearted banter, huge knowledge and a shared love makes it a happy place to be.
Same as this smile

I find the aggression, rudeness, and occasional downright nastiness displayed in some of the GG threads quite dismaying. You don't find this kind of thing at club meets, shows, or track days, my regional PH get togethers and hoons are just brilliant, great bunch of people. It must be the anonymity the internet provides that draws the 'keyboard warriors' here. Sometimes seems like PH is a target rich environment for internet bullies and the socially inept.

I feel a bit better now I've got that off my chest smile

And ill take the change.

Im Martin and i addicted to anything with an engine in it, and i come on pistonheads (mostly) to look at all the pi55 taking and petty arguments and then to occasionally put my 10p worth in to try and stir it up some more, if i want to talk cars with petrol heads i go on car specific sites to get my answers.. which is a shame really..

OP - Is it your mission in life to include 'M135i' in as many of your posts as possible?
Say nothing. At one stage he was determined to let everyone know he had a 335d. It was mentioned on every thread on the forum. In health matters, scale models, the lot.
What's amusing is the fact he banged on about his 335d being an SE with no silly M Sport kit or useless iDrive. So then he goes out and gets an 'M' 135i with yep, you guessed it, iDrive smile

Agreed Chilli; this thread just proves it too. More effort spent having a dig at me than mentioning cars.

Get Carter; I think you may be "winning" so far wink

Tell me you think early (2006ish) I-drive was good. Then tell me you don't think it has improved a massive amount since then.

Then come back with your half ar5ed sniping efforts.

I'm a car enthusiast.

I think my profile shows a wide variety of cars i've owned.

In fact we're a family of car enthusiasts. My son is on the forum too. Hes 20, got his 120D M Sport 3 door when he was 19, previously a modded Civic 1.8 VTEC, lightly modded golf, modded Fiesta, and a Pug 206 2.0HDI as his first car.

Wifie has a 2012 z4, previously a Subaru WRX-S, z4 coupe 3.0i, 3 series coupe, MR2, Celica. All bought new.

I've a mk6 Golf 1.6TDI for the 90 mile return commute to work, but try to have something "heavy" about. Just sold my Audi A6 3.0i Quattro Avant. Looking for something with a V6 or straight six engine, or a 1.7 Puma or an MX5 just to play with at the weekend.

I can and do appreciate a car on its merits at any age or price point - most of the cars i've had the most fun with have been well under £1,000.

Why are you so aggressive/bitter towards people who don't pay cash for their cars Vlad? Surely it doesn't make them less of an enthusiast?

Surely if someone is prepared to go in to debt to get the car they want they're a true enthusiast so why kick them for it?

From rhe limited experience i have of his posts, I get the impression that he isn't truly bitter as such, more that he just wants everyone to know that he can afford to buy his, not particularly cheap, vehicles outright.

Why are you so angry and bitter that you have decided this is the case and keep asking?
I ONLY bite when someone tells me how stupid I am for buying cars with cash.
If people lease/finance theres that's fine; it's just not for us and while it seems fine to "defend" non cash buying, justifying cash buying seems to bring PHers out in hives. Very one sided as usual.

Hmmm.

I dont recall anyone saying you personally were stupid for buying with cash, though i'm happy to be corrected.

Any links to posts?

I'm not angry or bitter. I just asked an honest question based upon reading your posts on PH. You're not always provoked, quite the contrary, you seem to be a bit of a willy waving keyboard bully to be honest.

Countless leasing threads telling everyone you'd be mad to buy with cash, etc, etc.

Slippery - clearly that isn't the intention. There are 100s of PHers much, much better off than me on here anyway.

Now let's steer this back on course shall we? We have near floods here AGAIN so today is looking like a cr4p driving day. ARRGHHH!!!
