Back in the seventies, Russian cars were emerging as motorsport contenders mainly due to their low cost. Some saloon car races were showroom price classified I seem to recall. This meant 850cc Minis were pitted against 1500cc Moskvitches. This shot is of a Moskvitch rally car which, if I've got the correct photograph, was obviously pressing on with supreme confidence. A second after the shutter closed, according to a motor journal report of the day, all four road springs burst up through the body and the car ground to an ignominious halt.

Another from 1993, another F1 team starting with 'M' and powered by Ford - Christian Fittipaldi, Minardi, Monza.
By Fittipaldi's account, Martini (in the other Minardi and being a legend) was an 'interesting' team-mate. Apparently Chritsian's mum promptly fainted in the pitlane. This was on the final lap as they crossed the line for another glorious 7-8 finish.
