I'm a huge Hamilton fan, but if that is the case, it's just plain rude.

So yes he did.

I remember the Lotus engineers were the best at this
End of the day is just about practise IMO :-)

I think in 2001 they had BMW E46 M3 and Atom as their drift cars. I have the feature somewhere :-)

I did the sideways challenge when it was held at Brands Hatch - it started off at Cooper straight and then around surtees, mclaren and clearway. I didn't do terribly well due to the relative lack of power from my mx5 but i got it going for as long as the power and momentum lasted.

I did better than the MG test driver in the MGZT v8 who forgot to turn off TC (he took a ribbing for that) and Lotus test driver Alistair McQueen who took a monumentally brave, but ultimately ill advised amount of speed into McLaren, understeered into the barriers and turned the car over, oops.... oh yes, and vicki butler henderson who was just crap, lol.....

Very inspiring read. A life goal and opportunity for sure. He is so cool and not like a lot of F1 baggers. Great read Chris smile

Oh good! I've heard Mr Hamilton can be a little arrogant - I've always hoped this wasn't the case!

Yes I have heard this too, I have always favoured Jenson and that was partly due to this apparent misconception.

Typical PH F1 comment, not even 5 posts in and LH getting flack, poor bloke, did he p*ss on your breakfast or something?

PH Moron post- "LH can't drive, LH can't have a Faith, LH can't love his pets, I can drive better than LH drunk, LH is too young to drink..." etc

With public attitude like that its no wonder F1 drivers hate doing public facing work, we should be glad they don't all take the ball home ala Kimi.

Good write up Chris, perfectly understand the lack of pics- sometimes its better to just enjoy the moment. Asking Lewis for pictures then would have been like filming the Headliners at Glastonbury on your phone- missing the point.

fk me, do you actively look for bandwagons to literally leap onto as they pass or was this opportunity just too good to let slide?

All that and all you took from it and then posted was "LH might be a rude bd" after woefully misreading it. And then when your mistake was highlighted, couldn't resist an attempt to legitimise the question with "oh yeah it's just that I heard he was a rude bd....so yeah. But I knew he wasn't. And stuff."

He must be stoked to have "huge fans" like you eh?

Muppetry. Have a word with yourself.

Great little story, if not for the cars, but for the kid who came to have a go at drifting (to which you may or may not have thought 'it's just a kid') to him then being your 'driving god'.

Also, is it just me or doesn't the lead photo deserve to be in some sort of caption competition?

(Done very quickly without too much thought, got to be some better ones out there)

Well there we go, an article involving Lewis Hamilton and already 20 or so posts in and we've got people slagging him off. Pistonheads can be a shameful place sometimes. frown

The author has to take some responsibility for their questionable wording of the article, PH doesn't always make easy reading especially in conveying stories in anything other than a tweet of blogging txt.
