I loved reading the article. Now, I wonder if the P1 did indeed beat the 918's time at the Ring, and I have a feeling that McLaren don't want to talk about it.
With reviews with a similar feel to this popping up everywhere, it's not like they need to extol it's dynamic virtues any further is it? All of them are sold, every review seems to state how it has recalibrated "fast". What does an irrelevant statistic around a piece of tarmac in Germany matter?

I was hoping for something a little more scientific and considered than hyperbole wink

Of course it did. Steve Sutcliffe said the P1 is much faster, everywhere, than the 918.

Epic article, very well written, the car sounds amazing, just sad I'll never get to drive one frown If I could go out to the garage and find a P1 and a Zonda, I'd die a happy man cloud9

I would without a hint of embarrassment for being so obscene, buy one of these without a seconds thought if I had the money. £800k seems like a bargain hehe

Methinks you'd have to stump up a little more than that now for a s/h one, given they've all been sold.

Same here. Breath-taking and other-wordly - just like a super (hyper? - though I hate that term) car should be. Does anyone know if the esteemed Mr. Harris has driven the Veyron? Given that it's the 'benchmark' of supercars, I'd love to know how the P1 compares. A great and informative bit of writing for those of us who will never, sadly, get the chance to drive one of these machines.

I'd still be worried that a mapped 335 would surpass it...especially if they have the seats down.

Oh, and well done McClaren. Very well done.

So wheres the berk from the 918 article that kept banging on about how the 918 was faster etc etc when he drove it compare to the P1 he had supposedly driven as well. Notice he's not so quick to pop up now.

Great write up as well.

I'd still have an F1. Although this is a relative bargain compared to the original.

Great review. Told me more about the car than a 15 minute piece on Top Gear ever could!
Indeed, great read. Lets have a nice long video to go with it smile

This is so desirable it almost hurts..

Makes a Veyron look a blunt instrument.

Certainly where my euro millions would go.

I guess that for some its nice to have "hard numbers" to demonstrate superiority of one poster car vs another.

In this case, the rumours are that the P1 set a 6:47 vs the Porsches 6:57.

A relative bargain at £860k v Bugatti Supersport
P1 0-200 = 6.8s Bug SS = 6.7s
P1 0-300 = 16.7s Bug SS = 14.6s
But as always, outright performance figures only tell a partial story.
Roll on the Top Gear lap times of the 918 v P1.
what do we reckon 1min 10sec approx?

the vayron is a decade+ older tech, it also had a different design brief, ie a 250mph+ car that your grandma could drive safely, it was an astonishing achievement, but tech has moved on hugely in the last 10 years

im going to say a sub 1.10 lap
